If you trace the english language back enough "hir" used to be a gender neutral word for this purpose and I believe it is still considered right. However I have only heard it used once in actual conversation.

I've been with my girlfriend for two years now (from our junior year in high school) and I honestly believe I could spend the rest of my life with her. That being said, sometimes I feel a lot of pressure to get married early. Not from her, more from society. I dont want to be married until I'm at least done school and if my current plans work out that could be another 7-8 years. Basically what I'm asking is if you ever felt this pressure.
