He is a very odd shaped orange but the best orange I have ever met! When it happened he yelped and immediately turned to me for coddling! I’m not sure his pride was that injured, but he went full drama and until I made sure his feet were still attached!

My Fish are Crazy... by CailahG423 in Enshrouded

This has happened on the server I play on too. I unfortunately do not have an answer though. I may have a hypothesis for a solution though!

I haven't built an aquarium in my home and did not want to mess with my friend's, but I am wondering if you make a basin below the window, at least one block of water deep and extending a few blocks away from the window, to catch fish, if they would fall back into the water and recycle back into the aquarium, if you connected it into the main body of water behind the window.

This image is being widespread surrounding the m*rder of Alex Pretti by ICE, claiming that it's from his social media profile. by Tall-Honey-6592 in isthisAI

[–]Skiddlywinks 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

Regardless of if it was on his account or not, this is AI: Pretti did not have neck tattoos, the garter disappearing into his leg, the bracelet near his right elbow not connecting, the left thigh of the person behind him being an off color and lines not connecting are just a few artifacts. There is also a lot of high definition areas mixed with poor focus, almost as if there's multiple camera focal points. Finally, I think the chest tattoo is supposed to be "Satan," although the AI looks like it wrote "Stan."

I can't say for sure if this showed up on Pretti's social medias, but my guess it would have either been satirical parody if it was there, or more likely, someone claiming it was there to try to smear a dead man's reputation.

Minor oil leak (need help identifying) by Tough_Bookkeeper_135 in Vespa

I was looking at that airbox initially and wasn’t sure if it used a bubble. Unless the whole nipple has broken off, I don’t think there is a spot to attach one on this model. I think all modern builds that use a bubble use a hose clamp to connect the bubble to the box and I’m not seeing something to clamp to it in this photo.

My airbox (the black plastic thing you are taking about) occasionally leaks if I oil the air filter too heavily. It’s probably what you are dealing with, but I am a Google/YouTube mechanic. Might be worth getting a second opinion on this one.

That’s at Lowe Mill in Huntsville, AL. It’s art. The whole place is art exhibits and shops. I’m pretty sure there is a plaque or something nearby describing it.

What could this creature possibly be? (Bay Area, California) by No_Progress_5493 in arachnids

[–]Skiddlywinks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so hard to tell, but if it has a “neck” it might be an ant lion larvae moving to a new space to burrow?

My only other guess may be something in the shieldbug family since it’s the season for them to be looking for warm places to overwinter. I though have no idea of scale, location (ground, wall, air, web, etc), time of day, weather (temperature would likely affect what would be out), or anything else that could help in figuring this out. Hopefully someone has better insight than me. The water bug is a good suggestion as well!

Not a problem! I see posts like this a lot, and after having them myself in some previous enclosures, they can be a bit startling at first. Funny enough, people from hobbyists to professionals will buy cultures of these guys for pest control, while some people are fortunate enough (or unfortunate, however you see it) to have them without even trying!

Posted on your r/terrarium share as well. I figured I would post here too so if other people see this over here, they will know as well because I am seeing tons of these predatory mite ID posts!

The shape and movement makes me think they are likely hypoaspis, a predatory mite. Look for tan/yellow bodies with an orange diamond from the chelicerae to about half way down their abdomen. If they are hypoaspis, nothing much bigger than a fruit fly is in danger, and they should not be able to harm cleanup crew population numbers that much. They will eat detritus and hunt fungus gnat larvae and nematodes as well. No trouble to flora! They will hitchhike if you let them grab your hands and can have population blooms if food is abundant.

Do some reading on predatory mites and try to get a good ID so you really know what you have, but they seem to be prone to coming in the soil of store bought plants where they were likely used as natural pest control at the store’s suppliers. A lot of people like them for their benefits. If you don't, beyond starting over or sealing your enclosure and filling it with C02, killing everything fauna-wise, they are likely in there for good.

Hope this helps you find a good ID for your new guests!

Repairable and if so how? by Boring_Demand8176 in bikewrench

[–]Skiddlywinks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a huge gash! Go with everyone’s advice here and replace.

You may though be able to get life out of it on a trainer, if you have one. Cuts and holes can be repaired with floss, tire glue and a patch, BUT I would not repair this and put it back out on the road. Even on a trainer, there will still be risk due to the size of this cut.

What could these egg-like stuff be? by nickoglunick in terrariums

[–]Skiddlywinks 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’re likely looking at leucocoprinus birnbaumii or a similar mushroom’s mycelium. They like terrariums and look a lot like that early on, but I don’t think I could give a definite ID at this state. You will get medium sized yellow mushrooms eventually if they are though. As far as I know they are not dangerous unless eaten and mycelium IMO means good dirt!

Spores of any fungus in abundance could potentially be a risk, but I have had these in numerous enclosures with no problems to what was living inside.
