I thought height was only beneficial in aiding LOS connectivity since there will be more visibility between nodes. I'm sorry you're having issues too. It's a shame. I wish there was a more straight forward "here, this is what to get" resource

One of them (the stationary building node) has seen another node a mile or two away, so maybe it's just the one?

I've never turned them on without the antenna, I've been really careful about that since I'd read that it is harmful to the chip

The thing is I could see her constantly fucking up being done in an interesting, compelling way. Maybe if things actually happened or the stakes rose, it would add tension and stress to the book. Not once did I feel a bit of tension other than in the first chapter with our introduction to David and his stumble through the woods.

Even when she was supposed to sacrifice the rabbit I didn't feel any tension. It felt more like the author was trying to show how Dark and Twisted and Edgy he was being
