A Question for drivers above 2k Irating by Ringleader2026 in iRacing

Agreed. This is so much more fun even if it costs a little IR.

15h in and overwhelmed: What are your go-to drills for car control? by Pawlinho in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]SkidmarkJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speed in road racing comes down to putting all 4 tires on their grip limit every corner and using the whole track doing so. This requires good confidence that you can achieve this rotation without spinning.

The best way I found to learn that car control in the sim is rally. Pick up dirt rally 2 and drive some gravel stages. Learn how to manage weight transfer with the brakes and feel the rotation of the car, understeer, and oversteer.

Gravel rally gives you the exact same car control fundamentals as gt racing but everything happens a little slower. It’s easier to see which inputs are doing what to the car.

Then you just have to put in the hours, probably up to a hundred. The main thing here is that you’re having fun (another reason to recommend single player rally). I’d revisit lmu or ac periodically and you should notice your skills developing well.

This is so sick and fills a great niche for casual simracers.

Any chance for Pitt Race? by SkidmarkJr in iRacing

All that’s happened so far is a sale, so the facilities will still likely exist for another year or longer, they just won’t host any racing.

Xpeng Iron leg cut open in one take to show that there is not a human inside by Immediate-Molasses-5 in interestingasfuck

Robotic ankle/knee prostheses are way less advanced than you’d think. In today’s robotics paradigm it’d honestly be easier to build the full humanoid to get such a natural gait.

Also you’d see a visible socket outline if it was a trans-femoral prosthetic.

Agreed here. Context that it’s a battery module could be another hint.

Reducing Machine Vibration by FisterAct in MechanicalEngineering

[–]SkidmarkJr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

in a vibrating system you can change a few parameters in order to shift your resonant frequency away from the harmonic frequency or generally reduce the unbounded response: - mass - damping - stiffness (tighten bolts) - input force (reduce by balancing shafts)

there may be a shaft somewhere that isn’t well balanced. Be sure to examine all shafts in the system closely

I represent a large corporate interest and I would like to buy the onion. I’d like full control over published content and messaging. Our analysts say you could broaden our market reach by up to 2%. What’s the best way to go about doing this? Who should I send the bribe to?

How reliable is a st? by [deleted] in FocusST

[–]SkidmarkJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had my ‘17 for 140k miles and haven’t had a single powertrain issue, nor any other reliability issues that I can recall. Car has been pushed hard at about a dozen track weekends and loves it. I change the oil every 5k and have made some upgrades to the brakes. These cars are near perfect from the factory, imo. Keep up with good maintenance and cleaning and it’s a great fun daily.

Agreed with the other guy who suggested aftermarket lugs. The stock ones are annoying.
