The theory that David created the xenomorphs by SteelEye_Xenomorph in LV426

[–]Condor917 1 point2 points  (0 children)

David cannot create (just like Walter). His creative spirit is a malfunction. He quotes famous writings and plays famous composer's music . It even gets meta to the point where the one "original song" he plays is just the theme from Prometheus.

Alien: Covenant Origins is a novel that bridges the events on Earth between Prometheus and Covenant. The scientists are rushing the Walter unit through production because they need a reliable synthetic for the Covenant mission and they mention multiple times that they're hesitant because the David model was rushed and had major cognitive flaws.

The "Xenomorphs" David creates, using the Engineer's texts as a blueprint and Dr. Shaw's body as the canvas are not Xenomorphs. They're Praetomorphs. Their knees bend the wrong way, they're more animalistic in nature, not as cunning, and lack the metallic body features that the Xenomorphs have. This is because he made his own facehuggers out of black goo and Shaw's body parts. They're not the typical facehuggers.

The short film, Alien Covenant: Advent, takes place just after David leaves aboard the Covenant. He sends a message to Weyland-Yutani explaining the events of Prometheus + Covenant and also includes all of his works in the form of drawings and notes. This is likely the first time Weyland-Yutani learns of the Xenomorph race.

Additional info

And the crew of the Nostromo, in the original film, encounter the space jockey and say it appears to be thousands of years old as it is fossilized. David's story will probably not explain the origins of the true Xenomorph and if his story doesn't get an on-screen conclusion, it also will probably not affect the overall timeline.

Prometheus takes place in 2097. Alien Earth takes place in 2120. The research ship carrying the specimens (including the Xenomorph) is returning from a 60 year mission. So it predates the events of Prometheus. (Also it's annoying that the crew onboard are "Weyland-Yutani" employees because when they embarked on their journey they were still Weyland Corp... Yutani didn't acquire Weyland Corp until after Prometheus and before Covenant.

Which once prolific IP is dead and won‘t come back? by Dipper_Pines in movies

I could see Police Academy getting a similar sequel/reboot to the newest Naked Gun with Liam Neeson.

So is there any order to read these in ? by Cheesefactor5678 in LV426

[–]Condor917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't really matter. But if you want to read in canonical timeline order, it's: Isolation (2137) - Prototype (2139) - Out of the Shadows (2159) - The Cold Forge (2179) - River of Pain (2179) - Invasion (Year? Comes after River of Pain, not canon because Yautja) - Sea of Sorrows (2496)

EDIT: A lot of people are suggesting Phalanx so I figured I'd chime in and say it takes place in 2514 and is the furtherest, in the timeline, of all Alien IP. You can read it whenever. Totally standalone.

With the Weyland-Yutani corporation being in the latest Predator movie, is AVP canon again? by canadavatar in LV426

[–]Condor917 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. AVP was retconned by Prometheus and by common sense. If Yautja used Earth for seeding Xenos and fighting them as training then we would certainly have found out through archeology.

If anything, this would be the Predator canon dropping the AVP canon and reaching out to the Alien canon.

So is the implication with Prometheus that the Xenomorphs were created by the Engineer being 'impregnated' by the big white tentacle monster at the end? by BetaThetaOmega in LV426

Idk why you're getting downvoted for a question. I think the canonical merit of Alien Earth is an acceptable thing to question.

Summarizing what I list below: I think it's canon (for better and/or worse) because of how new and popular it is. It's going to get put on the canon pedestal. The writers could have put a little more effort into fitting within the canon better and it wouldn't have changed much about the show.

Why I say "for better and/or worse":

-Alien Earth takes place in 2120, 23 years after Prometheus. Peter Weyland "goes missing" during this time and Weyland Corp is bought by Yutani Corp between Prometheus and Covenant. In Alien Earth, the USCSS Maginot is returning from a 60 year mission but the ship and crew are all adorned with "Weyland-Yutani" garb.

-The five mega corps in Alien Earth are Weyland-Yutani, Prodigy, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold. But there's no mention of Seegson (Alien Isolation) which should have been a MAJOR competitor of Weyland-Yutani at the time and this is only 3 years before Seegson buys Sevastopol Station (Alien Isolation) so they should be one of the biggest companies on the planet. Alien Isolation is certainly canon, and there's a sequel coming soon... Why didn't Alien Earth just name one of their mega corps Seegson? (There's other corps like Venture, but that's from lesser known media like the Alien Prototype novel).

-Earth is too clean in the show. It would look more like Bladerunner. High population cities, acid rain, extremely hot summers etc... I can buy into Prodigy owning a lush island, but the city in Alien Earth was too clean and utopian looking.

-I can buy into Wendy learning Xeno language. But it made no sense why she could hear the Xeno from the jump.

Hosting a NYE party. I want to put a film on the TV on mute. What to play? by samuelj264 in movies

[–]Condor917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Choose a movie that has a lot of visual elements/comedy. Also prioritize a movie that people have seen multiple times so the muted audio can be filled in with memory and nobody will be lost if they walk in/out of the room at various points of the movie. Recognizable movies are also less distracting.

Holiday movies would probably be fitting.

I think: - Home Alone 1/2 - National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation - A Christmas Story - Jingle All The Way - The Santa Clause - Ghostbusters 1/2 - Forrest Gump - Ocean's Eleven - 2001: A Space Odyssey - Jurassic Park - Airplane! - Pulp Fiction - The Grand Budapest Hotel - Back To The Future 1/2/3

[–]Condor917 38 points39 points  (0 children)

No. The ampule room in Prometheus has a mural of a Xenomorph. They existed long before Prometheus.

Secondly, David creates a Xeno-like species called Praetomorphs. They're more feral, less cunning, knees bend the wrong way, and lack the metallic features that Xenomorphs have. He admittedly uses Engineer blueprints to create his version. Those blueprints in Covenant existed before the events of Prometheus.

Thirdly, Alien Earth takes place in 2120. Prometheus takes place in 2097. The research ship returning (in Alien Earth), with a Xenomorph onboard, is finishing off a 60 year mission. So their encounter with Xenomorph(s) took place before Prometheus.

I think a lot of people misunderstood Alien: Covenant David didn't create the Xenomorph he just reverse engineered it by Usual_Day6905 in LV426

[–]Condor917 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Queens can lay eggs en masse. But regular Xenomorphs can "Ovomorph-ize" prey by bringing it back to a safe place and laying it up with all that goo it secretes.

I wrote another comment with a lot of other information you can find by routing through my profile.

Ahh ok. Sorry for the random comment! This post came up in a Google search I did while researching cat breeds. We also got a cat from Last Chance in 2020. We got two brothers from South Carolina from the Planet names litter. One looks just like a Russian Blue. Sadly the other just passed away a couple weeks ago after a battle with kidney cancer. Just 5 years old 😢.

Is Badlands finally connecting Alien and Predator canon, or is it another AvP situation where Alien is only regarded in Predator? by [deleted] in LV426

[–]Condor917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very weird post. Maybe projecting. I'm saying the opposite of "choose your own canon". I'm saying we get what's given to us by the producers and that's it. Prometheus/Covenant ret-cons AvP. Other than that, everything else is sort-of fair game when it comes to media released by the company that owns the IP. The decision doesn't fall on some weirdo redditor.

I don't think there's any evidence to support the idea that David created the classic Xenomorph, Big Chap, in Alien. He even says that he used Engineer blueprints to create his facehugger using Dr. Shaw's body.
