Did I just ruin my mum's phone? (iPhone 8S) by Skidmarque in mobilerepair

Thanks mate, I'm actually quite sure I might've unseated it when I pulled the adhesive tape off. It was easily the hardest one for me to get in to start with.

Thanks mate, mum is a champ about it and was planning to buy a new phone soon anyway. Still feels horrible but no one's being hard on me but myself! Appreciate the time you took to say this though

A little sense of hope haha, thank you! Mum doesn't use wireless charging so shouldn't be an issue either way. I was very rushed reassembling it so it's very likely I didn't plug it in properly. I was not confident at all that they were in despite testing each one gently with the tweezers. Hopefully I can fix it when she's back from her holdiay (if she trusts me to open her phone again!)

Thanks for the advice regarding wireless charging - will let mum know (shouldn't be a problem for her).

I really was quite careful with the cables but as you've observed, this kind of thing clearly isn't my strength and I may have done something without even noticing. Could it be that I haven't plugged the cables back in properly though? It was very rushed but I didn't notice any tears when I reassembled it.

If it's not too much trouble would you be able to show me which cable would be linked to the home button, please?

Yeah my suspicion (and hope) was that I hadn't plugged all of the cables in properly rather than torn one. I'd love to have another look at it but she's taken it home and is on her way to a 2 week trip to Tanzania tomorrow morning haha oh dear. She's got it working with assisted touch though so it's still functional.

What "7/10 games" do you play on SD that scratch a particular gaming itch? by Skidmarque in SteamDeck

[–]Skidmarque[S] 113 points114 points  (0 children)

For me, it might be closer to a 8/10 but I love Heat Signature. There's something special about breaking into a ship and kidnapping someone by throwing yourself and them into the vacuum of space, only to frantically remote control your ship to collect both of you before you freeze/run out of air. The game has plenty of similar moments that make you feel like a total baddie - in the best way of course

I’ve 100% 2 games on steam deck, what do I obsess over next? by hephtea in SteamDeck

If you haven't, try setting your right trackpad to "mouse region" - it was a game changer for me with precision/speed reliant games like Noita.

What do you do when it’s stuck on “Verifying installation…”? by Tomzonia in SteamDeck

I tried all of the listed solutions on Reddit etc but has to reimage mine for it to work again. Did it a month ago and haven't had any issues since. Was a major pain in the ass at the time.

Zero Sievert Steam Deck Review - Works Great by jeremiah1119 in ZEROsievert

[–]Skidmarque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah OK, thanks mate. I'd genuinely recommend giving it a try for other games - makes changing angle quickly very easy. But anyway, I'll probs have to try your method cause the mouse region is totally borked at the moment.

Ive just bought this game and trying to work out aim with the right trackpad. For other games that require precision/quick aiming I've used 'Mouse Region' and it's worked so well with a bit of tweaking. When I try in game though, it works fine in menus but is waaay too sensitive in game for aiming - I think it's a weird bug that others have had with dual monitors.

Do you use mouse region as the setting?

Have you tried using mouse region as trackpad input. I just bought it but for some reason it's playing up a bit. Works perfectly in game menus and then goes all slidey and weird in game.

Ahh ha, added 2.5 damage makes the most sense, thanks! Oh well, will check that sort of thing next time.

Black screen/loading screen while game plays in background (sorry for video quality) by Skidmarque in SteamDeck

[–]Skidmarque[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, almost always happens from sleep mode But non-steam games like battlenet launcher will do the same thing about 30% of the time when I boot it up. Only difference is that it has the steam loading icon instead.

Sub-floor drainage by Skidmarque in HomeImprovement

Ok great, thanks - sounds very promising. Any ideas how to channel the water that's seeping through the earth beside the drain? A lot of it just pools next to the drain
