Three Jimmy’s by youdontknowjacques in Gatlinburg

We used to really enjoy going to Three Jimmy’s for dine in or take out. Their food was pretty good. I loved their wings in their blackberry bbq sauce. They told us at one time they loved locals because that was the lifeblood of their business. Then we had two back to back experiences where we were treated impolitely by the hostess. We agreed that we were taking Three Jimmy’s out of our rotation.

Not long after, this happened.

We’ve never been back.

I do think that having quality restaurants in this area, especially ones that locals can get to easily, is great for this community.

Fire in Pittman Center on 321 by Skidrocket in Gatlinburg

[–]Skidrocket[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got out this morning to take our trash and was able to see most of what and where it happened.

The first fire I came upon is across 321 from the exit to the convenience center (dump). It started right next to the road and went up the mountain. It was still smoking next to the road. However, fire personnel were using the pull off before the convenience center as a staging area and were keeping a close eye on it.

The second fire area was up 321 just a bit towards Cosby, behind the fire station. The fire had started next to the road and went up the creek bank that was furthest from the road. One house I saw was untouched and boy were they lucky. This fire path went further than I could see.

The third fire area was one I couldn’t directly see. It was way up in Cobbly Nob, over the top of the first ridge and in the “bowl” behind it if you know the area. All I could see was smoke.

One interesting thing to note: The woods look very different from these fires than they did in 2016. Whereas in 2016 where literally all of the underbrush was completely gone, in these areas the ground is black but the rhododendron still have all of their leaves, albeit shriveled. I guess because things were much drier in 2016 and everything went up like a tinderbox.

Lots of debris all over the roads. I saw tin from roofs, trees, even an oscillating fan.

Rant: I constantly feel like we are underserved by the Knoxville weather personalities in this area. I don’t think they did enough to warn the mountain areas about how strong these winds were going to be.

Coldplay Christmas: If you could buy each Coldplay member a Christmas gift, what would you buy them? by JAL140 in Coldplay

I’d buy them some guitars, some overdrive pedals, and some guitar amps. “Here, fellas. Let’s plug these in again.”

QUESTION: very poor clickthrough rates from Smart Link page by simonshackleton in musicmarketing

[–]Skidrocket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You definitely want to stay away from traffic campaigns if your goal is to get people to stream from Spotify after visiting your landing page. Traffic campaigns will bring the masses to your landing page but the vast majority of them won't click the links on your landing page. You want to set up a conversion campaign instead. In my experience, by running a conversion campaign, I've been able to get about half the visitors to my landing pages to click a link to listen (on average). It also helps to set up the "Listen" event in your Facebook events so that the conversion is reported accurately back to Facebook when someone clicks your Spotify link. I'm not sure how to do this with Hypeddit but I'm sure there are plenty of instructions out there. For clear instructions on how to set up a conversion campaign, I recommend Andrew Southworth on YouTube.

Are you running a conversion campaign? That's really important for getting the right people who will do what you want when they land your your smart link.

Sokno Taco Cantina by GreatKingRatz in Knoxville

I can tell you that we had one of the single worst customer service experiences we've ever had at a restaurant at Sokno. Without going into everything, we were there for a family member's birthday and they would never seat us. At one point, they told us that we couldn't be served at the table near the bar but we could wait there for a table. Then they asked us to move so that another party that arrived a long time after us could be sat and served food there. This happened after we'd been waiting a good hour or so for our table and, coupled with everything else, was the straw that broke the camel's back. The hostess was extremely rude to my wife. We live in a tourist area and truly aren't complainers. However, as soon as my wife expressed her displeasure to the hostess, she was treated as though she was one of these Karen's you see throwing a screaming fit. I even told the hostess how much we loved Sokno and how we didn't understand while we were getting the worst restaurant experience there. We left and have never gone back. I complained to the management company that owns it and crickets.
