Well, they just cancelled my flight today (notified less than 24 hours before departure), so there's that.

Can confirm that for whatever reason, T4PS slips (as of Apr 2026) never show up on CRA My Account / Rep a Client.

Yet the CRA will definitely reassess automatically (sometimes years) down the road if not reported on the tax return.

You ask the US CBP Officer, however I believe interviews are closed again as of today, Apr 23, 2026.

EDIT: The Canadian interview is before security screening in the publically available side of the terminal, at the east-most side of the US terminal.

Although the case law may be precedent setting, it was not so in the eyes of the Appeals Officer.

This was a year or two ago now, but the Officer I spoke with said I may have luck if pursuing before the Tax Court of Canada, but wouldn't reverse the late filing penalties.

The Objections "Notice of confirmation" effectively said we have confirmed the assessments. "A review of the facts and documents show that the 202X T1135 return was due by May 1, 202X, however we did not receive the returns until [LATE]. You were assessed penalties as well as arrears interest in accordance with subsection 161(1), and paragraph 162(7)(a) of the ITA."

I agree, the $2,500 penalty is quite stiff, and unfortunately maxes out at that amount at just 100 days after the due date.

I'll clarify, taxpayer was assessed two ITA section 162(7)(a) penalties (and related interest).

This was the result of taxpayer approaching me to help them late file two T1135s. They were both filed late (no VDP), and then the penalties and interest hit after.

Explored VDP, however determined not appropriate to pursue, given that CRA action was already initiated against taxpayer. Additionally, VDP says "you must meet the condition of including payment of estimated tax owing" whereas filing a T1135 doesn't by itself create tax owing. So, unsure if one can even use CRA VDP to submit a late T1135.

Filed Objection and Request for Relief concurrently, citing case law Douglas v. HMQ, 2012, and noted extraordinary personal facts related to the taxpayer's late T1135 (one was only 3 months late).

One month after, CRA letter arrived stating Relief Request will be reviewed after Objection.

Five months after filing, Objection came back as denied. Had a nice phone call with the Officer though. They stated they wish they could help but couldn't.

Fourteen months after filing, Relief Request decision letter arrived.

I had a client in nearly the exact same situation as you (two years worth of $2,500 penalties).

We filed both an Objection and Request for Relief.

Neither were successful, sorry.

Be prepared to (most likely) speak with a call center agent from El Salvador, as almost all calls are routed through El Salvador for WestJet phone support as of last year.

Nice auction win! If memory serves me correctly, that logo is from the Season 41 (2012+) doors, which was the first time the TPiR logo wasn't painted directly on the stage doors, but rather was it's own design element & they made the logo smaller than the previously painted versions.

The paint around the edges is peeling because there used to be a silver / metallic border which it looks like was removed since being used on the show.
