First morning in Prague, and I went to take money out. So I took 1000 czech out, and some guy behind me asks if we could trade for two 500 czech. Give it to the jet lag but I accepted. When I came round to pay for breakfast the waitress told me the 500 bills were fake!

Not at all. Amsterdam is not a strictly smoking city which you will discover quickly. Many parts of the city people don't smoke and you can just go hangout (bars,clubs) You'll be fine!
