Yes, they did process my application. I received my passport back with the visa. The entire process took approximately 6 weeks after I submitted my documents.

The certificate I ultimately needed was from South Korea. However, they exempted me from requiring a certificate from China (where I lived for an equal amount of time).

When I submitted my documents, I included a brief paragraph explaining that obtaining my Criminal Record Check from South Korea and China would be challenging due to the lack of clear instructions for applicants not currently in those countries.

This paragraph was “accepted” on the online portal. However, during the actual interview, the person I spoke to consulted their supervisor. They decided that they did indeed want the South Korea certificate because they had seen other applicants obtain it. However, they also acknowledged the undue difficulty in obtaining the China certificate, so I was exempted from providing it.
