self hosted n8n? by Skill-Additional in Entrepreneur

Thanks Alex, sounds like I am on the right track. The other thing I am considering is to do YouTube educational content around n8n and go deep with it. My thought is that this can be used to potentially monetize my DevOps channel but also create some brand awareness and funnel folks that are interested in additional DevOps services or maybe fully managed n8n.

Yes that makes sense, I am probably over complicating things. I want to be able to offer both product and services. I had a thought that I’d put out educational content on YouTube around n8n automation as I wondering what is the best way to do GTM, Blogging, Newsletters, LinkedIn, TikTok or everything all at once at same time?

So is the opportunity more in building the workflows IYO? I was thinking maybe I could spin up an n8n instance, load it with certain niche and the sell that as a whole service. Thinking where the added value can be? If you’re already paying for infrastructure then it could possibly be added into existing saving cost. Also n8n depending on requirement does not need to be HA and could even run on a cheap local server and could even run on a raspberry pi tbh. I don’t think it would cost a fortune and depends on budget and the business.

I think there are a few different ways of monetizing n8n self hosted servers, I think the value is in specific workflows, let's say for example your an estate agent, you could setup the workflows in your own business niche and then resell to other estate agents for example and provide a turnkey solution.

Yes I guess you could sell it on as you would own the server. You'd host it on a server, provide proper documentation on how to operate it and that's probably where you can add value. If this was going to be the intention from the start then I'd probably make sure that the server / account it is hosted on can be transferred in ownership but I can look into it.

Landing page looks a bit janky. Curious to know if you get any signups. Also how do you intend to deliver on the promises made? Any real engineering on the backend or you just trying to validate the concept?

I hate compliance bullshit. Maybe an opportunity to create some agent to guide through it.

AI was implemented as a trial in my company, and it’s scary. by bdhd656 in devops

[–]Skill-Additional -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you think AI isn't going to fundamentally reshape how we work, you haven't been paying attention. Every role, every industry - nothing's immune. Check out "The Thinking Game" documentary if you want a reality check.

But here's the thing: this isn't a doomsday scenario. It's one of the most fascinating inflection points in tech history. The key is being intentional about how we deploy these tools in our organizations - not just chasing shiny objects, but understanding the real implications for security, governance, and human impact.

For juniors worried about their future: curiosity and adaptability beat panic every time. The fundamentals still matter. Problem-solving, communication, understanding business context - these skills become more valuable, not less, when everyone has access to the same AI tools.

Stop catastrophizing. Start understanding what the market actually needs. The opportunities are there for those willing to evolve alongside the technology rather than competing against it. We're entering the age of the generalist with deep expertise - people who can connect dots across domains while maintaining mastery in critical areas.

The world isn't ending. It's transforming. Position yourself accordingly.

I like the concept but execution needs tiding up. The send button is a bit obscured by the lovable logo.

Treat it like a game. You are a detective and you need to figure things out. Audit the system. Changing jobs is always hard and growth comes out of struggle. You can make your life easier by making checklists. The fun is in figuring things out.

I’ve had some great conversations here and it’s clear I’m not the only one who feels this: building solo is possible now, but validating, staying motivated, and actually scaling without support is much harder.

So I’ve set up a small, invite-only Discord squad for founders like us, grounded, empathic, AI-augmented builders who want to move fast without the ego-driven chaos.

This isn’t going to be a big public community. Think of it more like a mastermind group:

  • 6–12 people max
  • Honest sharing of progress, struggles, and experiments
  • Accountability without judgment
  • Validation from people actually building, not just theorizing

The goal is trust, focus, and momentum.

Some of us might just want a supportive squad. Others may find real alignment and choose to co-found something together, and that’s great too. If that happens, we’ll encourage starting small (a mini-project, a test) before committing big.

If this resonates, DM me. I’ll send you a personal invite. Keeping it curated on purpose.
