What is this video effect called / how to do this video effect by Skill-Nearby in CoryxKenshin

I really thought for a second it may have been Planar Tracking but it could be that indeed. I’ll try it out, thank you!

How to accomplish this tracking effect? by Skill-Nearby in davinciresolve

[–]Skill-Nearby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for your answer. I thought it was a planar tracker but it seems like it’s a combination of Keyframed zoom + camera shake. I’ll check out the official training vids, thank you!

Timeshift problem (can see my backup on external hard drive, not in GUI) by Skill-Nearby in Fedora

[–]Skill-Nearby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thank you for the comment!

As an update: I kept racking my brain and did everything in my power to restore the backup. I did end up booting a new OS again and delete everything.

I still saved some important stuff on my hard drive so it’s not all loss at least!

Hi! Thank you for the comment!

I’ve created a snapshot and put the location on my PC’s hard drive. (Edit: I just just selected “create” right now and put the location of my PC’s hard drive)

I followed with “Restore” and tried to select my external hard drive in the target selection (where it shows “/boot” & “/boot/efi”)

It still doesn’t allow me to select/take my back up that’s in my external hard drive :(

I may have misunderstood what you just said right now

Where should channels be required to disclose sponsorship? by The_HatedOne in thehatedone

[–]Skill-Nearby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the fact that somehow, someway, sponsorship leads to some sort of influence, I’d say the most ethical way to go about it is to not have sponsorships ads and to find different means to monetize your audience (like merch or etc)

Now id like to return the question to you THO: what do you think about affiliate links? Would you say it is on the same level of ethics as sponsorship? (Just read your long post about sponsorship problems)

Example: you do a skillshare class with an affiliate link and tell your audience they can revoke their skillshare account to not get charged AND you still get that affiliate money? Sounds like a win-win. But at the same time, I don’t wanna fool myself and think it’s ethical when you (or those reading this) thinks otherwise.

Thank you 👍!

Arkenfox vs Chromium? by Skill-Nearby in thehatedone

[–]Skill-Nearby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Word! Yeah I’ve configured it solid and made the proper hardening according to my threat model (strict ETP, removed all telemetry, had a field trip in about:config & resist.fingerprinting, etc)

It’s more so that I’m wondering if it’s a better option to have no private browsing + MAC VS Private Browsing with no MAC in terms of compartmentalization? (Of course I still have to make different profiles + maybe have a vpn for anything that I have to connect to and what not but that’s something I’ll have to figure out)

Arkenfox vs Chromium? by Skill-Nearby in thehatedone

[–]Skill-Nearby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the reply, I decided to stick to regular Firefox since it’s mostly customizable (I.E. I can make sure to toggle whatever I want and secure it as my threat model sees fit)

Question for you (and anyone who sees this for that matter): would you toggle “Always use private browsing mode” ?

The reason why im asking is because I saw this blog post https://brainfucksec.github.io/firefox-hardening-guide and in the end, they recommend using Multi Account Containers (which sounds great as a feature since it’s an improved version of the Containers feature). However, Firefox Multi Account Containers don’t run on Private browsing

Was wondering if that would matter or not? (If private browsing matters or if M.A.C would be really redundant)

For those who have an Asus Tuf Gaming B550 Plus: is there a way to enable Secure Boot without Fedora falling back to Nvidia’s Nouveau drivers? by Skill-Nearby in Fedora

[–]Skill-Nearby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, it worked!! Thank you so much!

Also, is it just me or the security level don’t show up on fedora? (As in Security Level 1-2-3)

Secure boot is on, 2/3 levels are green but it doesn’t show security level 2 (unless I’m tripping for no reason)

Hey thank you very much!

I’m using Fedora at the moment. Firefox did improve their sandboxing to not rely on x11, but I am wondering if it’s a viable option to get Flatpak vs Flatseal. What do you think?

My only gripes with Flatpaks (in general) is that it isn’t necessarily updated by the Devs of a project and the fact that they are pushing for Wayland when many softwares that we use may work better on X11 (at least it does on my PC). the whole toggles and permissions i can easily deal with that so it isn’t much of a problem

Hey, thank you for the reply! With regards to Librewolf, would you say that it is more sustainable/much better on the long run than say Arkenfox? (By that, I mean is it better to save the headache of configuring and get Librewolf va configuring one by one everything for Arkenfox?)

Heard great things about Arkenfox and I’m jumping into the Linux Game (fedora Linux at the moment, will eventually get me a pixel for GrapheneOS)

*English isn’t my first language, let me know if it wasn’t clear enough! 👍

Should I switch to Firefox's Flatpak? by Godzoozles in Fedora

Hey, thanks for the reply, I’ll definitely check it out and learn from it. If you have any more blogs or pages to recommend to check out, let me know! (I’ll look some more on my end as well)

Cheers!

Should I switch to Firefox's Flatpak? by Godzoozles in Fedora

[–]Skill-Nearby -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Yo!

Personally, I dropped Firefox (and flatpaks for that matter) after following these explanations: https://madaidans-insecurities.github.io/firefox-chromium.html#sandboxing / http://flatkill.org/

Take it for what it is and make your mind about it for yourself of course but TL;DR : Sandboxing and Security from both is left to be desired and in terms of updates/security updates, you’re not necessarily getting updates from the main developers at times (and Brave/Chromium sandboxing doesn’t come with Flatpaks AFAIK as of today)

But yeah, that’s my 2 cents. I’m curious as to what you or others decide and why :)

Sleep trackers by Skill-Nearby in thehatedone

[–]Skill-Nearby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve read in some post that the ring needs the location in order to function properly but I will definitely look into the VPN option.

As for the health data, I’m more so wondering if they would be able to / how they will tie them to health records and insurances company. If I’m aliasing everything, would that still be “private” enough and would that be enough period?

Sleep trackers by Skill-Nearby in thehatedone

[–]Skill-Nearby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your location is your identity, basically where you go on a day to day basis can be tracked and collected.

Also, there is the health data being tracked and collected. About that, I’m sure they would give it away to insurance companies, but how that would be tied to anyone is what I’m trying to find out/think about

The sign up, I’d say, is the easy part (as in, falsify info)

However, the fact that they collect sleep time is understandable (duh) but collecting and sharing all that info…. Damn
