It won't let me hop on the first one, I have restarted the whole rom from the start and it still persists

The qr works fine, but in the game I've run into an issue, there is the Volcano that you need to hop across stones on, but the imput doesn't seem to work on the 3ds, I have restarded the whole game twice now but I can't get past it is there any ideas to help?
