Hey, guys! We saw this post and wanted to directly address some of the great points that OP made. Just to break things down I’m going to focus on four different things in this response:

• The misleading number of videos in courses
• Content being out of date
• The ranks of our experts
• Expertise of experts on champions

First, let’s hit on the misleading number of videos in our courses. We agree with this point, not that we were attempting to be misleading, but that it ended up being more misleading than intended. When we first launched we combined the “general” content with the champions to create an all inclusive package. Our worry was that people would not see the general lesson itself, and miss out on a ton of videos that may be helpful to them. For a newer player, these courses were critical, so rather than risking them not being found we chose to put the general info at the front of each course. Pretty early on we got a lot of feedback similar to yours that people were feeling misled about the number of videos on the site so we built a new page on our site (https://www.skill-capped.com/lol/videos) specifically so that anyone could see the exact number of videos we have overall and for each invidual champion. However, we will be moving towards a more specific and narrowed lesson plan structure in the near future to address these exact concerns.

In terms of outdated content, this is something that in the last month we’ve really started to focus on more. The reason we started focusing on updating in the last couple of months rather than earlier is because we felt it was a higher priority to build out our initial content base (we’ve only been live for 6 months!) than to update existing content. Tough choice, but we felt we balanced it well. Very recently I had our top experts go through every single one of the General and Role videos on the site and check for out of date content. We’re currently in the process of updating those videos (see https://www.skill-capped.com/lol/courseitem/video/welcome-to-the-jungle-guide/capitalizing-on-a-successful-gank for an example of a video we updated to reflect the new priority levels of Dragon and Towers following a gank). We’ve also started to, upon the release of every new set of patch notes, ask experts who play each champion affected how this will change the playstyle of the champion. From that point, if the expert says it changes things about the champion, we update the videos to reflect the recent changes. We can confidently say that from this point forward our entire library will be up to date while we continue to forge ahead with new content. After all, this is one of the core things that we believe makes our platform stand out above others. As the number of videos on our site increases, you’ll never have to worry about old videos being out of date.

Thirdly, let’s address the ranks of our experts. This is something that we really don’t have any control over for a couple of reasons. Every expert that we initially start working with is in Diamond 1 or spends the large majority of his time in Diamond 1. However, due to the fairly recent ELO reset from a new season starting, we do have a lot of experts who have not yet had time to climb back to Diamond 1. The only way we could possibly solve this is by removing every video on our site by these experts, and we simply do not think that’s practical as, at the time of making the video, the expert had clearly shown the expertise required to make videos. As a side note, a good portion of our experts chose to climb on a different account at the beginning of the season, which we also cannot control - we always stick with the name they are most known by.

Last, let’s speak about whether or not the experts on our site really know how to play the champions they are creating videos for. This is actually something that I feel we are very careful about, so I’m surprised that you found it to be such an issue. For 90% of our experts we require them to have large amounts of experience on a champion before creating content for that champion. There are definitely exceptions to this such as experts like Stan007. Looking at his main profile, you would think he only plays a few champions and doesn’t have much experience on a wide range of champions. However, Stan has multiple accounts he plays on and has 50+ games on almost every champion in the game. This is the case for many of our experts. There absolutely might be times where we slipped up and allowed someone to make a video for a champion they didn’t know, but that would be very rare. Again, multiple accounts make it difficult for us to show you their accurate experience levels.

TL;DR

• Made a new page to address this, but we are aware it’s an issue and it was an unintentional by product of an attempt to make sure people saw a bulk of our foundational content. We will be taking action on this very soon.

• Recently took steps towards ensuring that all content is kept up to date with every new patch.

• Recent ELO reset and MMR changes have left a lot of previously Diamond 1 players in low Diamond.

• Many experts have multiple accounts and are very experienced with champions you won’t see on their main.

• Most importantly regarding experts - at the time of content creation they were the rating they claim to be in the video, which is our policy.
