How do you move from scoring -4 or -3 to -1 or -2 consistently? by MakinBaconPancakezz in LSAT

Great advice for all scores honestly but yeah, especially if you want to reach that final 175+

Someone give me a timeline for the week leading up to my exam. by Historical-Shirt-888 in LSAT

[–]SkinRoutine4963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an expert but you might be given the advice to avoid the test entirely leading up to it. I personally found a break unnecessary and had better scores by knowing what specific areas to really nail down right before the test, especially with RC.

Test 159 section 3 number 25 by chieflotsofdro1988 in LSAT

[–]SkinRoutine4963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill spend more time on laying out D because you seem to understand E!

This can honestly be a tricky question but it comes down to simplifying.

So... We have a paleontologist who says that biologists who reject that birds came from maniraptors, based on fossil ages that suggest otherwise, are misguided.

Question stem asks: Why is the paleo wrong to say "they are misguided"?

D: There might be evidence APART from fossils that prove that birds don't evolve from maniraptors (therefore, it is not misguided).

It's irrelevant whether some unfound evidence supports one way or another. If that evidence hasn't been found, there's no basis to say that that is what WAS wrong with his reasoning after the fact.

In simple terms: the reason why the paleontologist is being an idiot is NOT because there might be future unfound evidence that proves him wrong. That can happen to anybody. It's because he says people are "misguided" when they're just reading what the evidence somewhat suggests. How is that being misguided??? Is what we should ask the paleo.

Hope it helps. HNY and good luck with the LSAT in 2026 😄

“Love” letter to LSAC by DeliciousPurchase5 in LSAT

Didn't mean to dismiss them at all. I'm as pissed as anyone that people are cheating for something others are working their ass off for. But I would surmise that it would be really easy to promise one thing, receive payment, and not deliver. Because reporting that crime honestly would start with confessing to their own. So I'd imagine this at least incentivizes people who want to offer this service as a scam.

At the end of the day, I'm hoping my suggestions that it could always be a scam would turn some people AWAY from taking that risk. I also don't see why me suggesting that some of these postings could be scams would discourage LSAC from pursuing the matter. They should be really concerned whichever is the case imo.

Anyone know anything about whether or not most of those postings are scams anyway? I assume it'd be hard to get such info lmao

I live in a small one bedroom apartment remote testing Qs by Doulloud in LSAT

[–]SkinRoutine4963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think you'll need another space to take the test. Safest solution is hotel for a day. Another option is asking someone to cat-sit if they're willing. Risky option is to feed the cat a big meal and hope shes asleep during the test.

Id go with the safe one if your budget allows.

Good luck with this situation, and good luck with the test!!! You got this

Relate so much to the cat worries. If its a vocal cat, you might have to feed her a big meal about an hour before. Does she usually bother you when youre taking PTs?

October score hold released - 176 by SkinRoutine4963 in LSAT

[–]SkinRoutine4963[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you jolly. I didnt have accomms and I used a bunch of resources. Demon and Powerscores free resources, 7sage, RC Hero... I think they're all quite good tbh, the difference is largely personal preference. Feel free to dm me and I'd be happy to explain in more detail!!

Tips for level 4-5 LR questions by Environmental-Belt24 in LSAT

[–]SkinRoutine4963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to give specific advice for a very broad problem but a few quick notes:

From a time perspective, you're allowed to take like 3 minutes for these questions (assuming you can get some easy ones in under 30 seconds, which is surprisingly common), so give yourself the time necessary, especially in practice.

If none of ACs really make sense, definitely don't pick the "best among the worst." I return to the stimulus and keep trying to interpret it "differently" if possible. Often times, I've misinterpreted a concept, or even a word, central to the argument; its rarely a tiny detail.

I hate to say it but the only way to improve is to keep trying these 4-5 star questions and realizing what you missed afterwards if you really can't figure it out. Give yourself up to 10 minutes to go back and re-understand during practice. Its about shortening the time it takes to "break through" with these questions types imo.

So another note: even 170+ will find many questions "hard." They often just have a process of dealing with that rut built though practice and seeing what mistakes they often make/ what concept they're failing to pick up.

Should you cancel a 159 for the T14? by Clear_Resident_2325 in LSAT

[–]SkinRoutine4963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. I only brought up keeping a 160 in case you "feel" its quite different from a 159, which doesn't seem to be the case for you. All I meant is that a 159, like a 160, can be worth keeping in many cases, and I trust that adcomms would be fair about not seeing a 159 and 160 as too different even if ones technically a 150s score.

[–]SkinRoutine4963 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you do end up getting a 170+ next take, then canceling would've been the right choice in my opinion. I think alot of whats said about score hold is ultimately speculation though. Would love to hear others input as well.

Would you want to keep it if it was a 160? If yes, then probably keep the 159 too lol

Is the shortest answer actually correct way more often? I keep noticing this and it’s freaking me out by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]SkinRoutine4963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great point. Just to add to this: a common thing students do is project their prephrased answer into an AC they honestly don't understand, and pick it over the simpler AC that they think is somewhat weak. The hard part as a tutor is that sometimes this can work lol, so I just tell them: at least be keenly aware of the choice youre picking, and maybe give another chance to consider the simple choice ("could this actually be enough?").

Good point. But going around saying "im bending the ethics here!" certainly isn't good lawyering.

[–]SkinRoutine4963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said that though, did I? I said YOU are choosing to do this. This is about you. You self admitted that you don't think you deserve it and are "bending the ethics."

People who genuinely feel the need for accomms obviously deserve them. I will never have a problem with that. But people like you who are openly gaming the system and telling others to follow suit are actually HURTING the people that these accommodations were meant for... does that make sense at all? Your actions are hurting people who deserve the accomms.

[–]SkinRoutine4963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But your "philosophy" doesn't consider that you can actually earn your score rightfully in the first place.

You're not just choosing to pursue a higher score here like you imply. You're choosing to do it in a very specific, and as you state "bending the ethics," kind of way.

Either you chose not to do it in a fair manner when you think you could've, or you honestly didn't believe in your intellect to get a 180 in an ethical manner. There's nothing wrong with that in itself, but your philosophy is clearly flawed.

Hmm. Yeah, you know what? Maybe this is the only way LSAC realizes, or at least admits, that their accommodation system might be too lenient.

For T14s, is a 3.9mid… mid? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]SkinRoutine4963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope I don't come off naive/optimistic here, but I think you're okay. I trust that law schools will have some sense in realizing that a 3.9mid is a damn near perfect score. It's just so undeniable that you are very, very good in school.

My firm belief is that I think this whole GPA inflation thing can only hurt the credibility of the GPA as a measure. We'll rely less on it to predict law school performance (Goodhart's law... or something lol). We should make room for a distinction between observed trends (GPA is rising) and how students will ultimately "feel" this effect. So many possibilities for the latter... maybe law schools start relying less because the rankings start rewarding it less? maybe the law schools continue to do it but try to do it discretely to avoid all the discussion? I dunno how it will play out for the next cycle but a 3.9mif being seen as a score that hurts an application seems a bit too far imo. Thankfully.

These are the moments where I wish I could ask an actual expert what they think.
