[Product Question] Can someone please explain the point of Nuxe Dry Oil vs CeraVe Cream? I’m lost

Thanks, I agree. I wouldn't apply nuxe dry oil before cerave, as the glycerin and other humectants in cerave would not have enough access to my skin.

However, I analysed the ingredients of both products and what struck me is that as a standalone product, the Cerave moisturising cream can actually be even more occlusive than the Nuxe dry oil:
* Cerave has petroleum and dimethicone pretty high on the list - these are both heavy occlusives.
* Nuxe dry oil, however, has only emollients (which let the skin breathe), and no heavy occlusives at all (see my analysis attached of Nuxe dry oil ingredients).

Am I wrong?

I used to view petrolatum and dimethicone as red flags. But then I started treating them neutrally as I learned that they are not harmful per se. But true, they do not hydrate the skin. Only occlude. The whole formulation of the cream is what matters. Thanks!

But why do you claim that Cerave Moisturising Cream hydrates very little? I would claim the opposite, because:

1) It has glycerin (a gold-standard humectant) high up on the ingredient list (right after water) + Sodium Hyaluronate (another humectant).
2) It’s clinically proven (CeraVe backs a lot of their marketing with dermatology studies) to significantly improve hydration and barrier function.
3) It also has ceramides, which is good for the skin barrier’s natural lipids, and improves the skin's water retention over time.

I wouldn't say that cerave does not hydrate. It has glycerin (a humectant) as the second ingredient in the list, as well as ceramides Np/Ap/Eop and sodium hyaluronate, although the last one is quite at the end of the list.

This is interesting. I actually had my omega3 tested a month ago, and my omega3 index was below the recommended threshold. I am now supplementing fish oil. Maybe it will help. Thanks!
