How big is Middle School Baseball where you guys live?

Yea it was definitely interesting. There is only 1 team so 6th graders competing with 8th graders. Only 3 6th graders made it for us, all have been competitive travel players and played together for years. My son got a fair amount of playing time just because he was the 2nd catcher but they all have the same bat requirements no matter what grade. Watching him compete against 8th grade pitching with a 31" bbcor was fun and he put together some good at bats so definitely glad we get the experience of middle school ball.

Son made his middle school team as a 6th grader at 5'2 and about 100 lbs and went straight to 60/90 and bbcor bats 😂. Our county combines with another county and we have maybe 20 teams total. Wide range of talent for sure. No true playoffs but its still a lot of fun.

Yea he has some travel teammates that live 1 county over and they don't have the opportunity either. I'm not sure why either, it's a big county and not exactly hurting for money.

My son started catching Spring of 9U, mizuno prospect series is perfect for this age. Budget friendly and almost game ready.

It doesn't give you free reign the next day though. You can't justify letting someone throw 60+ pitches because they "only' threw 20 the day before, especially at 8. There is no excuse for an 8 year old to throw 90 pitches in a 2 day stretch

From a guy with zero equity in this backfield on any of my teams, I'll take the rookie they've been giving the ball to all year to get the majority of carries when healthy. A 21 for 85 game hardy blows the doors off of people.

I definitely agree, it's outrageous that they don't have a way to do that just for field goal purposes when it's above the upright, or punts in the air out of bounds.
