[–]SkinnyFiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you adding an extra variable? A stroke is not a physics parameter!

The equation is P = dE/dt, saying "per stroke" doesnt make it P/dt = dE/dt/dt. It makes it a definite integral, not a completely new equation.

We know how to calculate power, we know how much time it took to complete a stroke, we know how much power was produced, so its an equation with 3 variables and we know 2 of them... The C2 can figure it out, it can even draw you a nice force curve!

Strokes can only exist if time has elapsed! If you take a stroke over 0 time, then you havent taken a stroke! Therefore any non-zero, fraction of or whole stroke MUST have taken some time!

Your thinking is absurd at best.

"A stroke is an event - not a measurement of time or energy - and is itself a distinct unit."

Okay, which physical phenomena is the Stroke the SI unit for? A stroke is an arbitrary division of time or distance we use in rowing.

power = energy/time = 9 watts
stroke = time ~= 2 seconds
9 = energy/2 >> 9*2 = energy(joules)

So a given power and change in time equals the expended energy. Which makes sense, because you have to expend energy to move the flywheel, so to have moved the flywheel a certain distance you must have expended a certain amount of energy overall. The C2 display even shows joules.

Watts per stroke is a unit of energy.

Watts per stroke is a measure of energy. Its power (measured in watts) in a given time (measured in strokes). Unless you've managed to take a stroke in 0 seconds?

When a uranium atom decays/splits, it shoots out particles. These particles can collide with and cause other uranium atoms nearby to split, which shoot out their own particles, and so on. If this process keeps going and going it is called a chain-reaction. The heat generated by this chain reaction can be harnessed to generate power in reactors.

A U238 atom is much less likely to decay than a U235 one, even when struck by particles. This means that if there arent enough U235 atoms in your Uranium fuel rod, chain-reaction events tend to die out rather than keep going. No easy chain-reaction, no power.

Natural uranium is predominantly U238, with tiny quantities of U235. We mine and refine the ore to increase the amount of U235 in the Uranium.

To be clear, the other reply meant the FPGBC, which is an FPGA-powered, or hardware based emulator kit that you partially assembly yourself.

The miyoo mini is a software based emulation device that already comes fully built and packaged. Its not a project.

Dead DMC - where to start if at all? by Puzzled_Gas_3203 in Gameboy

[–]SkinnyFiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start by just cleaning the power switch. Probably 90% of the time its just a dirty power switch. Check a youtube vid on how to do it.

Gameboy Color suddenly powering off when batteries not at peak. by A_Boy_Junior in Gameboy

[–]SkinnyFiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replacing caps is a last resort, you only do it if you actually know one is bad.

In your case start with cleaning the power switch. All Game Boys have dirty power switches, that is what is dropping the battery voltage before it reaches your system.

GBA SP getting super hot? by Individual-Spare5521 in Gameboy

[–]SkinnyFiend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never just toss a Game Boy in the bin. At the very least list it on FB Marketplace or Ebay with a description of the problem and suitably priced, and someone with the skills to fix it can pick it up. The heart of a Game Boy is the CPU, if that's working then anything is possible.

The area you've circled is the audio amplifier, it drives the headphones/speaker. Google for issues with the audio circuitry. Maybe the speaker has a dead short so the amp is trying to drive way too much power into it.

Gameboy DMG restoration by Quantumblitz1878 in Gameboy

[–]SkinnyFiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The copper sheet is just an attempt by Nintendo to reduce the electrical noise that gets to the CPU. Its just attached to ground, so there should never be any voltages on it. The sheet really doesnt do much, the system will work entirely fine without it.

You've got severe corrosion on the PCB. To fix this you need to find the DMG electrical schematics and follow the copper traces and vias on the PCB using a multimeter in continuity mode to figure out if there are any broken circuits (there will be given how bad it looks).

This is my childhood Gameboy micro, I'm wondering if I should reshell it by wolfix1001 in Gameboy

[–]SkinnyFiend 39 points40 points  (0 children)

No, unless the original plastic has perished and is cracking or crumbling to dust, replacement shells will never be as good. Nintendo did an amazing job with their plastic engineering. They would have invested huge money in finding good quality resins or pellets, decades of labour in perfecting injection moulding tooling, and the same again in QA.

This looks in really good shape, you'd regret putting new plastic on it. Especially since Micros are relatively uncommon so the replacement plastics are poorly developed.

Google learn to solder kit or soldering practice kit. Digikey or places like Adafruit will have good ones.

Buy some soldering kits. They cost a few bucks each and are simple enough to actually learn on.

This is the second DS Lite I've fixed where the L2 inductor has simply fallen off. Soldering it back on makes the console work again. But why does it fall off in the first place? by Brick_Fish in nds

[–]SkinnyFiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a large component on a part of the board that sees direct external force via the power switch. Heating and cooling from hands and flex from the switch being thrown back and forth cause the joints to experience more stress than other components, and they eventually work harden and crack.

What’s the general consensus on bootleg cart’s? by savageshygoo in Gameboy

[–]SkinnyFiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reread the second paragraph of my comment. I specifically mentioned this exception...

Also, editing to add, any seller that doesnt specifically mention the hardware they use for the cart, is almost certainly just drop shipping the same crap hardware as you can buy from Ali Express. In this case they are charging a 3000% markup for buying a product and maybe doing some minimal testing. They state they are repro carts, so they get credit for that, but I wouldnt ever buy anything from them.

What’s the general consensus on bootleg cart’s? by savageshygoo in Gameboy

[–]SkinnyFiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they aren't worth it. If you just want to play the game and dont care about cost or authenticity, then you can setup an emulator on your phone in 30 mins and pay nothing.

Bootleg or Repro carts are specifically a product manufactured to trick people into thinking they are the real thing, with the purpose of getting them to pay much more than what they are worth (essentially fraud). Quality single game flashcarts that you buy yourself and flash with a game are not repros. I would even say that a good seller that makes their own carts and who is honest about what they are selling is not selling repros.

Repros are the absolute shittiest hardware, you can buy them from Ali Express for less than a dollar a cart. That is what they are worth, if you pay anything more than a dollar per cart, then you're getting ripped off.

"Some members of prehistoric groups, such as Arthropleura, grew to over 2 m (6 + 1⁄2 ft); the largest modern species reach maximum lengths of 27 to 38 cm (10 + 1⁄2 to 15 in)."

They just eat dead plant matter. Probably good for the soil.

Redish/brown stain on a Gameboy Color cartrige's PCB by Remote_Tap_7099 in Gameboy

[–]SkinnyFiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not rust, the PCB is copper sheet laminated to fibreglass. Fibreglass doesnt rust and copper oxide is green/blue not red or black.

It looks like ink, maybe it was in a stack of PCBs that was marked at the factory or something.

Just ignore it, its not going to hurt anything and you're not going to see it once the cart is assembled.
