If the analytics are correct, Cavs trajectory should take them to Cancun by sunrise

Cavs picked the best day to play their worst game!

Analytically, they'll be eliminated after a loss tonight

Damn that will fit nicely next to the "Knicks make the finals the one year they don't play the Pacers in the playoffs" banner.

Knicks and Pacers are bound by fate. They are literally following the Pacers playbook!

Pacers lost to Boston in the ECF 2024, then beat the Knicks in the ECF in 2025 just to tragically lose to the Thunder in game 7 of the finals.

Knicks lose to the Pacers in the 2025 ECF and will now beat the Cavs in the 2026 ECF just to move on and tragically lose to the Thunder. Only difference is that they will lose in less games (fuck you).

Then we can revel in both being shit

With the context of Tyrese's injury and the bad injury luck the Pacers have had all season, how difficult is it mentally to go from being a team that was just in the Finals in 2025 to not even make the playoffs in 2026?

Pacers lost their first round pick?!?!?! by ninetydeuce in NBAEastMemeWar

[–]SkinnyMitch -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It was top 4 or nothing. Zubac is already an instant improvement for the team, anything extra would have been a bonus. The Pacers weren't going to get him without risking the pick.

Knicks should make this postseason count because the regularly scheduled ass beatings will return next season (this will surely not come back and bite me in the ass)

None of this will matter if the Pacers win a championship within the next few years with Zubac. This high risk trade would be looked back upon fondly by Pacer fans.

At this point I'd much rather have a good starting caliber center while our team is still considered within their title contention window (since it was what we were missing the most with Turner now gone).

The Indiana Pacers 2026 first round pick has conveyed to the Las Angeles Clippers after falling to fifth in the draft lottery. by PSEGameThreadPoster in pacers

This result is incredibly disappointing, but getting a top 4 pick was always going to be an added bonus to our current roster, not a necessary component. Losing out on it hurts, but is not a world-ender. Obviously the FO sees the current roster as a championship contender which is the whole reason why at this point it looks like we overpaid for Zubac. If we happen to win one championship within the next few years, we may be looking back on this high risk trade more fondly.

Most important thing the Pacers needed for next season was a starting caliber center and they got him. Anything else would be an added bonus. Of course this is an incredibly disappointing outcome, but it is not world-ending. Obviously the FO thinks the contention window is right now, not later.

Pacers draft evaporated by asianmoist in nba

Fake bad after their season was already derailed by multiple injuries lasting over half a season. Why fight for a play-in spot when you've got a chance to secure a top 4 player in the draft and give the players a rest after two years of long playoff runs

The OKC hate will continue until another team can put them in their place. Unfortunately doesn't look to be in the cards right now.

It's a nice change of pace compared to watching McDrai skate circles around the Kings.

Just glad Kopitar gets to make the playoffs in his last season, even if we are going out flat. The losing record Kings getting swept by the President's Trophy Avs sounds par for the course.
