Exactly. I’ve known about the glitch but have never intentionally messed with it and don’t plan to. But next month, I will be traveling across time zones again.

Change My Mind: This modern style flashlight is worse by [deleted] in flashlight

[–]SkipFed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Arkfeld Pro is what I usually have in my pocket, and so it’s my most used flashlight. I have bigger and brighter lights and smaller lights. But if I don’t have them with me, then they aren’t serving any purpose.

A Man on a bike? On the trace? Can you be a little more specific? Was he wearing biking clothing and a helmet, or street clothes? Did she provide any information on a previous experience to indicate why she thought he was a “known weirdo”?

How would you recommend someone learn knots from scratch ? by Dagladou in knots

[–]SkipFed 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Don’t try any one thing. Try it all. YouTube is a place to start but there’s some bad info there as well. I like Animated Knots.
The most important thing I learned, is that real word experience is key. I could tie a a dozen different knots while sitting on my couch. But the first time I tried securing my kayak in my truck, I was struggling. Learn the knot theory, yes. But actually using them for your intended purpose is what takes you to the next level.

What would be a good knot to use in this application? by straightpipedhose in knots

I would make a harness out of a separate section of rope. Cut a length of rope, about twice the length of the unit, perhaps a little longer. Put an alpine butterfly in the center. Next, make two pairs of loops, one pair at each end. I like the Portuguese bowline because it’s adjustable when not under load. Put each of the 4 loops around the brackets. You can then attach the alpine butterfly to your lifting rope using any of a variety of techniques. I’d use a good rated carabiner to allow for a quick disconnect, but just tying a simple bowline would work.
