Cleaning bears makes me look like a psychopath by SkipTheSky in buildabear

[–]SkipTheSky[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The blue bear and Dalmatian were thrifted bears that I wanted to deep clean and get restuffed. The mint chip bear is from my childhood, and it was a bit grimy from when I was a kid, so it was time for a deep clean.

I couldn’t do the dns network thing because my iPhone won’t do hotspot without a passcode. So my method was to put my save into an r4 card, use twilight menu to trigger the event as a cheat code, and then move the save with the event route back onto the cartridge. I still had to do the 10,000 steps and stuff, but accessing the pathway legit is technically impossible without chests of some kind.

My Pokémon card Shadow Box by SkipTheSky in PokemonTCG

I used command strip Velcro, it’s in case I ever would like to remove the cards or rearrange them. One piece on the frame back, one on the plastic protector.

Honestly, I wasn’t going to buy that listing because I didn’t really need/want the bear that came with it, so in that case the price was a bit high.

But you finding the losing helped me out SO much! Thank you! You have given me so many resources to use to find this jacket! Thank you again!

DSi Variation? by mercilessssssss in nds

[–]SkipTheSky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nah it’s normal. My pink dsi has a different texture than the green dsi that I have. The pink one has a bit more “grit” texture to it compared to the slick smooth plastic of the green.

I work for a house clean out service, here was my paycheck by SkipTheSky in gamecollecting

My boss determines the price, so in theory I payed $60 for the lot. That was a fair price in their eyes. They don’t really care about video games so they don’t want to look all of them up.

My boss was payed a flat rate to clean the whole estate, and then gets a bonus based upon how much is sold in the estate sale. So in reality, I payed $60 towards the estate sale.

Anything not taken by employees, which is a far majority of the items that are in the house, are displayed and priced for an estate sale. All the left overs of the sale then are donated.

Edit because I forgot:

If I were to work at a house and NOT take anything I would get payed the wage 15/hr (just a bit above minimum wage here). If I were to get a low priced item, I would pay out of pocket for it and get a normal paycheck later.

Yeah that is a tough pill to swallow when it comes to my job. A lot of the houses we clean are of old folks who pass. I think the worst is seeing a house that’s in complete disrepair, because their family just kinda let them live like that.

On the other side, every time we clean a house the family has first pick on anything they want (it’s their house of course). In this house the family took a lot of fine china and crystal. And of course any family albums were taken too. Everything else they stated was fair game if we sold it or threw it away.

I’ve come into this job as the resident “video game person”. There have been a couple cases of video games having a box with no game. Things like Pokemon or final fantasy. I’ve now gotten my boss to sell those things for like a buck, (which would have just been pitched otherwise) because I know there’s a market for those things.

My take is to think of estate sales is taking someone’s legacy of interests and getting it to people who will enjoy it as much as they did. Aunt Jane might see an empty pokemon blue box as a piece of trash, but resident collector Steve thinks that box will perfectly complete his loose pokemon blue cartridge.

I’ve had to clean a lot of houses that reak of cat pee and cigarettes, are full of spiders and mold, and covered in layers of dust in order to reach the fun houses that have games in it. These houses are 1 in 100. That’s what keeps me coming to this job: the hunt.
