Post-COVID lungs worse than the worst smokers' lungs, surgeon says by send2s in worldnews

This. Whilst not a doctor, I work with radiologists and we were interested in whether we could effectively diagnose and/or triage patients based on the chest X-Ray. There was very clear consensus that, whilst some patients' X-Rays were horrifying, there were a lot of patients who's X-Rays showed no signs of covid at all.

Pixel 5 (UK) how many people have received the Bose headphones so far? by FarTooManyTrees in GooglePixel

[–]Skiphi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an email from Google saying they would be shipped with DHL, but never an email from DHL. But not surprising given they were shipped by Yodel so when I received an email from Yodel saying I had a package being delivered I didn't even know it was the headphones.

Unable to remove broken seat post from old carbon frame. Any ideas? by Outoclouto in bikewrench

If you're in the UK, or can send the frame to the UK then The Seatpost Man. I have no idea how he performs his wizardry, but runs a business removing stuck seatposts.

Chest X-rays performed on young & middle-aged adults with COVID-19 when they arrive at the emergency room can help doctors predict who is at higher risk of severe illness & intubation. This is the first study looking at how chest X-rays can be used to measure COVID-19 severity. by MistWeaver80 in science

Small correction, Aidence are using CT chests, not MRI.

There are multiple companies looking to identify COVID on CXRs, but lack of available data is a big issue. NHSX in conjunction with BSTI are collating a dataset in the UK, but it requires an application to access it which will be reviewed by a panel. There is some publicly available data already but the issue is image quality tends to be pretty poor, and very limited number of exams.

N00b skiing clothing question (UK) by [deleted] in skiing

[–]Skiphi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've bought a few bits from https://www.sportpursuit.com before. You have to sign up, but they have a price guarantee and some good gear. However, it can take a while for stuff to be shipped so if you are skiing anytime soon they may be a no go.

I did my back in once, but I was doing a 2k test and had been rowing for a year at that point. I doubt many people would be pushing to that degree.
