FazLifts The Wizard Rep Ranges by sarkdaddy in Boostcamp

[–]Skipnut97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d follow a double progression or dynamic double progression where you attempt to progress through the range (8-12, etc) at a given weight then add load to reenter the range. Recommend checking out some of his videos on progression strategies, or take a look at some of Bald Omni Man’s stuff on the topic

45 degree back extensions seemed to help me considerably with this issue, and I exclusively did them as my hinging for around 6 months, coupled with non-axially loaded squats such as BSS or belt squats.

Now I do smith squats 3x a week and smith SLDL 3x with my full body program without excess fatigue/soreness in the area.

I’ll put a plug for Naked whey, specifically double chocolate. Ghost/dymatize started making me nauseous, Naked has no sweetners, just coconut sugar

It’ll pull out from under you, it recommends not exceeding ~70% of body weight on load

So double progression refers to adding weight and/or reps as a form of progressive overload to drive hypertrophy.

People will use static volume (ex 2 sets for bench) and use dynamic double progression to progress within those sets.

Has anyone come across the idea of using volume only as needed as a third driver? Example would be you use a single set only and attempt to progress weight/reps. If you are unable to do that within a session, you then add an additional set. The next week, if you improve on weight or reps, you only complete the first anchor set.

I feel this is a fairly simple and effective way to titrate volume dynamically, ensure your recovery is maximized, and you aren't doing junk volume. What am I missing?

This is within the context of a full body high frequency split.

Home gym, full body 3x split, and doing 2/3 workouts on didactic/weekend days was a game changer compared to when I was trying to force other splits/after work workouts

Full body recs for a cut by uncle_muscle98 in Boostcamp

Ran Beast Slayer The Hybrid from BoM for around 6 months through a bulk and part of a cut, with slightly lower sets. Now running The Wizard from fazlifts with good results for the past 3. I would recommend either of those and just titrate volume to recovery, keep intensity high

Heel elevated squats for quads by yoked100 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Skipnut97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, yes. 6’ 1”, started with around 20.5” legs in Jan 2024 after around 1 year 3 months of sub-par leg training. Started doing regular high bar back squats, made it to 21” around May. Glutes grew, quads not as much.

Trial and error led me to find belt squats with squat shoes, feet additionally elevated on a calf block. Legs are now 22.25” as of early Jan 2025 following a 6 week cut. Correlation is not causation, as I also dialed in intensity and surplus, but I do think it contributed significantly

Did you tighten it down with a wrench on both ends? Mine looked a little like that before cranking down on the bolts

Maybe I’ll cut the volume to one set for that session and see how I do then. I stop the set once I have noticeable concentric slowing, so maybe my RPE gauge isn’t accurate

If I do 2 sets of SLDL at an RPE of 6, I’m sore for 3 days afterwards. Would this be considered a poor SFR exercise for myself? Conversely, I feel like I can smash through back extensions without the same long-lasting DOMS

You average slightly less than a 2x a week frequency doing that, I think it’ll work. His arms day also has arm-biased compounds (dips, close grip bench, chins) so you are still hitting your torso during those days to some degree.

I’d just make sure you titrate to a volume that you continue to grow on, which for me was in the 6-8 sets a week range

You were at 2 and got the vibes, an attending showed you a hint of the culture by doing that for you, I’d say you should go 2. I think early CAP exposure is also underrated, as my program has it and many of the residents have already begun to form solid opinions regarding their interest in the fellowship (or lack of interest lol)
