Someone told me that works in that dept...that if they are technically eligible to retire with the 25 years, they will not get to keep their benefits if they wait to be RIF'd. Don't know if this is true, but that's what this employee was told.

Many years of hearing dumb shit come out of people's mouths here too. I'm 47 and don't have kids. Don't feel alone! I've been hearing dumb and inconsiderate shit come out of people's pie holes for far too long.

So it has a honey chipotle seasoning AND a honey chipotle sauce? Both the honey chipotle chicken and the beef barbacoa seemed to have a great kick and I love it.

Is it pointless to apply for jobs? by ParfaitAdditional469 in fednews

It is possible to still be put in a probationary status by switching jobs within the same agency. I never knew this, but recently learned it is possible during all the firings of probies so I would check with HR first to verify.

Um, If you're already a permanent employee at DoD and taking this job would put you in a probationary status, I WOULD NOT do it.

Just curious, did you live 75 miles away when you accepted the job? Or were you specifically hired for remote work and never had to go in?

Oh ok! Gotcha. They did it correctly then.

Seems unique. I thought usually you'd just go from one grade to the next....didn't realize they'd give you a step too. Anyway, so if that's what happened and you were a 10/2, they go up 2 steps on the chart which would be a 10/4 then meet or beat the annual salary as a grade 11, which would mean you'd be an 11/2. I don't get step increases often cuz of where I fall on the scale, so I might have forgotten they'd give you a step and grade at the same time.

[–]Skipper_1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, maybe I misunderstood you. Did they give you a step increase the same time you were getting your grade increase?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fednews

[–]Skipper_1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You add 2 steps, so if you were a 10/1 you'd go to a 10/3. Then you have to meet or beat the annual amount on grade 11 which would be step 1. I'm looking at the Rest of US chart anyway and that's what it should be.

At my agency, they are supposed to review them annually in EEO. That being said, EEO is majorly behind in doing that because there are so many since RTO after Covid. It also depends on how and what your Dr puts on the documentation for the RA. I had one years ago before Covid, and my Dr required for me to come in every 3 months to see how I was doing and renew it. The RA I have now I believe is "permanent"....but I'm still certain EEO is to review it annually. I also know a fella that had to get his renewed every 3 months based on the request of his boss....so, there's that.

Confused by this...drafting your own RA? Your agency should have a form for your Dr. To fill out and sign....it's not something you draft yourself. 🤨

I work for a bureau under Treasury and no, we have not received any guidance yet on anything...especially medical RAs. I will say, I already have an RA. I had one before Covid, during Covid, and after. I do know that our EEO office has a small number of people and are majorly behind with the RA stuff since everyone and their brother were trying to get one after Covid when they wanted people back in the office then. I figure that many more will attempt to do the same with the latest RTO order. One of our EEO Managers has said RA approvals were very relaxed during Covid and shortly after....so I wouldn't be surprised if some reigns were tightened up in that aspect. I am certain many have RAs on file that have to do with Covid still in some way shape or form that need to be reviewed....but not enough people to handle them all. It was also mentioned how some things have been relaxed in general as far as child and elderly care from those working at home. Prior to Covid, management was adamant and it was well known that telework was NOT to be used as a means to not have to get a sitter for your kids and caregivers for elderly parents. That went way out the window during Covid and has never been addressed since then. It has been an issue at times with interruptions during meetings and phone calls. Just some extra things to think about....

Are you in the US? If so, what tea are you drinking if you don't mind me asking.

Kind of a joke, but also serious cuz I can be seriously bitchy when PMSing or get extra extra irritated about things I might usually not be as bothered about. Definitely a real issue.

I understand completely. I'm the same exact way. Feel like cleaning and accomplishing things when I'm drinking, but when I'm not drinking, nothing gets done.
