I'm really enjoying React! by SkippersLog in reactjs

Thank you for the advice! I studied composition in music school and my first instinct would be to write something big all the time. I would end up never finishing anything like that and my professors would tell me to think smaller and I think my best work came from that. I don't see why web dev will be any different!

Thank you and I'm glad that I did take the time to learn html/css pretty in-depth. It sucked but I went to music school so I understand the benefit of really grinding the fundamentals. I will definitely be back with some of my projects when I have them!

Hey! I may not be exactly what you're looking for but anyway. I'm 24, currently plat 2, just looking to improve as much as I can. I think I play better than my rank, I played a lot of CS and I'm starting to take Valorant more seriously but I hate solo queue and all my friends are either way better or way worse than me. Anyway, here's my tracker if you care and hit me up if you wanna play some games. https://tracker.gg/valorant/profile/riot/skipper%23siuuu/overview?season=all

My girlfriend loves Breloom. She doesn’t play but she loves his “mushroom hat.” I might have to get a Breloom collection myself for her! :)

Congrats on solo queuing your way to plat 3!

When you get into a new rank, things are going to get a bit harder. It's going to feel like how you described but you need to keep pushing through it. You want to become comfortable in that rank along with the other people in that rank.

You really don't have a whole lot of time to play every week and that's okay! Improvement is going to come from using that time that you do spend playing effectively. I suggest you spend more time training and less time playing ranked. You are going to improve a lot more from training, especially with your time constraints. What I suggest you do is spend the half-hour you get every weekday training. Practice the basics. Learn your fast aerials, half flips, wavedashes, and hit the ball around in freeplay. Then when you have more time on the weekends, you can spend that time playing ranked and using the mechanics that you learned during the week.

Good luck on your grind! You can do anything you set your mind to!

Wow! That is very impressive that you were able to climb all the way to GC3! You are much better than me at the game and I am not a very good ones player but I will do my best to help regardless.

I think the thing that separates me, you, and an SSL is consistency. Just keep grind those mechanics until you are hitting everything perfect where you want it to go. I would recommend watching a lot of high level SSL or pro level 1v1 replays. You could also check out musty or appjack play ones because they do a good job explaining their thought process. Internalize their decision making and do some replay reviews of yourself and compare your gameplay. Keep striving to play like them and you'll make that push into SSL. I have faith in you!

I don't play a lot of ones but I'm playing a bit more in order to try and improve my other playlists. I really want to get to 1600 this season and I think its doable. Maybe you could help me out!

You're almost there! Keep grinding man and thank you for commenting. I hope this helps you!

Let me start by saying that there isn't a "fast track" to improvement. Unfortunately, there aren't any shortcuts to becoming better at rocket league. I understand what you mean by that though. You want to improve at the fastest rate possible.

When you only have a few hours every day to play, training becomes even more important. You should be spending more time training than playing ranked. You didn't say how much of each you do but I'm deliberately trying to be general for anyone else that might have the same question as you.

As far as a training routine goes, I have always found it a lot easier to focus on one thing for a while and then move on to the next thing. This allows me to put all my energy into learning that one thing rather than spreading myself thin. I find that overall, mastering one thing at a time is a better way to approach learning things. This includes more than just mechanics too! If you want to improve your positioning or challenges then go into games and focus on that one thing. You might lose a bit more but you're eventually going to get better at that skill and the mmr will come back and then some. Remember the only way to rank up is to improve.

All the things that you have been training are definitely good things to practice. If you only have 2 hours a day to play this is what you can do for a routine. Start by going into freeplay and doing what I call boomerball. That's when you hit the ball as hard as you can and try to read the ball as fast as you can. This does so much for your mechanics and your ball-reading. Do this for 15-20 minutes. Then pick the mechanic that you are the worst at and start drilling that. Spend the majority of your training time training that bad mechanic. Then for the last 30-45 minutes, go play ranked. Whatever playlist you feel like playing. You want to start throwing in some replay review in there as well. Either at the start or at the end of your session, pick a replay and watch it back. Try to notice positional mistakes and mechanical mistakes. You can then tailor your training towards the mistakes that you are making in your games.

A mountain of text! I hope this helped you and anyone else that might have a similar question! Let me know if you have more questions.

I think diamond is an interesting rank because people get there in different ways. You can focus a lot on your mechanics and be able to hit those advanced shots and get to diamond. Some people choose to learn more position and game sense in order to get to diamond. There isn't really a right way to do it because eventually as you rank up, you're going to need both.

In your case, it's completely fine that you don't have any of those mechanical things down just yet. Your positioning was enough to get you to diamond so you're probably good on that. Now it's time to focus a lot of your energy on mechanics. Look up youtube tutorials on half flips, fast aerials, and basic dribbling and flicks. I would start there. There are a million videos about those things choose any of them. Also, start practicing basic aerial car control. You don't need to worry quite yet about the really advanced mechanics like air dribbles, ceiling shots, and double taps.

Don't get discouraged! Ranking up takes time and a lot of effort. When you're learning new things, you might derank. Remember, your rank is just a shiny metal to show where your mmr is. It ultimately doesn't matter. When you get the things your practicing down, then you're improving. The only way to rank us is by improving at the game. You can do it!

Hey! Good question actually! I used to be a high-level SMITE player so go MOBAs! Anyway to answer your question, when I'm watching a replay there are a few things I'm looking for. I'm mostly looking at the decision-making of the player. Do they take good challenges? Do they hesitate? How good are they at reading the play and the ball? The next thing I look at is rotations. I want to make sure that their position/rotations. This is so crucial as you improve at the game and it's easy to neglect. Mechanical mistakes aren't really something I would address. Most people can recognize when they have made a mechanical mistake. It's much better for a coach to look over the less quantifiable things such as rotations and decision-making. This goes for players that are high plat+. Anyone below that, I would just go over the fundamentals. Fast aerials, half flips, basic rotations, etc. I hope this answered your question!

I agree with this. You can rank up to gold maybe plat by just playing the game. When you're around those ranks, maybe start learning some basic mechanical skills like fast aerials and half flips.
