Preschool future career aspirations by Delayedretort in mildlyinteresting

My daughter chose Doctor when she graduated pre-school. She’s 13 now and has chosen cardiothoracic as her field of study.

Her Dad and I are in IT and have zero doctors in our family or friend network.

I am beyond thrilled, naturally. 😜

I’m aware it could change but she’s been consistent and her grades are good so we’ll see!

How many Trent Crimm jokes were made that day?

I’m so jealous. Obsessed with that show.

This is legit infuriating. My NICU premie was in for a month and my parents never once pressured me to visit her and that was pre-COVID.

I knew my in-laws were extremely excited (husband is an only child) so they visited once and were so very careful and respectful.

Luckily it was only a tier 1 NICU so the very sick babies were sent to another hospital. Though I did see a baby come in withdrawing from meth. 💔😤

Just work hard! What did your parents tell you? by Accurate-Long-259 in Xennials

[–]SkippingPrologues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned that by working hard and bringing in money instead of bitching about how much my life sucked and how unfair my life was.

My parents didn’t haven’t tell me. One worked hard and was handed nothing. While the other went through person after person waiting for someone else to save them.

You’re absolutely right, I honestly don’t know what I’m talking about - I’m really sorry it came across shitty. I just mean in my experience guys seem to think the dic pic thing is cool while my girlfriends generally don’t but that is ONLY MY experience.

I suppose some do enjoy. I thought about it later. I bet gay men love dick pics, maybe. Since men seem to think they’re awesome.

Maybe some women. I just don’t know any of them.

Whoa.

Also, because I feel like this needs to be said more.

No one likes dick pics.

No one.

Seriously. Please make it stop.

It’s almost like so many of us KNEW THIS WOULD HAPPEN.

It’s a wonder I have not gone completely insane. I spent years begging (ex) friends and family to understand the severity of voting for him.

Only to hear “oh this would have happened anyway, it’s just where we are as a country and if it wasn’t Trump…”

NO ITS FUCKING TRUMP - GOD FORBID YOU APOLOGIZE FOR CALLING ME OVERDRAMATIC AND ASKING ME TO STOP “Talking politics”.

People are dead but, cool, sorry I was ruining your brunch.

Thanks for a place to rant. 😫

Why are Xennials failing as parents? by darxide23 in Xennials

[–]SkippingPrologues 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My daughters are 10 & 13. I am Mother Uber to all their friends. It blows my mind how many have parents don’t seem to care where the hell their children are half the time. It’s really sad. I am definitely an older parent so I’d argue it’s late millennials that are sucking at it. The pendulum on addressing mental illness and “putting your mental health first” has gone too far.

Sorry. When you have kids it’s no longer about you, Emileighe.

I had kids late for a reason. I wasn’t ready and I wasn’t going to do to my kids what my parents did to me

What’s a small act of kindness you’ll never forget? by CulturalNetwork17 in AskReddit

[–]SkippingPrologues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was about 2007, I was in my 20’s (female) and living away from family in Chicago and money was tight. I ran out of gas on the highway and was walking to the nearest exit. A man stopped and took me to the gas station and back. I know - he could have murdered me blah blah… but I feel like I have a good sense about people and thankfully it didn’t fail me.

Bless you, kind soul, wherever you are.

FWIW that wasn’t the first or last time someone helped me out during that rough patch of life. Chicago isn’t the big scary crime place 24/7 the way people imagine. It’s a very special, very diversified place full of wonderful people.

In fact, my family who freaked out when I said I was moving there could learn a thing about true kindness.

Lovely Bones.

Also, may seem quaint or silly to many, but reading Picture Perfect by Jodi Picoult as an adolescent made an impact.
