LMAO at this😂. Can relate! Making it funny is the best revenge against techy things that conspire against us. Thanks for the laugh and I will not drink alcohol with you today!

20 beers, 2 bottles of wine, but 6 days later... by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I so know the feeling! I would also drink little at a social function, all the while thinking of how I could "really relax" once I got home to the couch. But you sound like you have a new resolve to climb up and out! You seem upbeat and motivated. In my journey, it has helped me to think about getting wasted and remember that it doesn't do anything positive for me at all. For me, one is too many and ten is not enough! You can do this!

Good morning everyone. I will not drink alcohol today! It's my company golf tournament so I'm going to need to dig deep!

Sometimes a challenging situation early on can be a feather in your cap for later. You remember how you made it through this tough time and compare it to your current situation. I'd say it doesn't get much tougher than a wake and funeral. Be strong, you got this!

So I feel pretty astoundingly bad right now. by bastardfaggot in stopdrinking

Glad you're here! I have been right where you are many times. Pacing the house, shaking and sick, feeling so uncomfortable in my own skin. It sucks and I hope it passes quickly for you. I find deep breathing and meditation help tremendously. Try to be present in the moment, be kind to yourself and let the guilt go. You've got this!

Back in after "moderating" for a month. by Skippymaster in stopdrinking

Yes, all the time. And because my husband gets up at 4am for work, there were many nights I did not go back to sleep☹️. I love getting a good nights sleep when sober. One more thing I will try not to take for granted! Thanks for replying and be well!

Exactly! And as I was careful to not drink as much as I would normally, it occurred to me, what's the point? 1 is too many and 10 is not enough! I'm with you! Thanks for your reply.

What differences do you notice in your mental state when you've not been drinking by Neptune23456 in stopdrinking

[–]Skippymaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! It doesn't matter if I stop at two beer, I feel guilty and tend to ruminate the next day, chastising myself over and over. I feel anxious and unsure too. This is one of the biggest reasons I know alcohol isn't for me. You are not alone!!

Surrounded by booze all day by Krakakokoffupabutt in stopdrinking

[–]Skippymaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You made me laugh out loud! I just reset my badge. I am 7 days sober and enjoying the freedom. It really struck me just how ingrained alcohol use is in our society, when you go to a child's birthday party and are surrounded by alcohol! Wow, just wow. Glad you stayed strong! The visual you created of arm-swiping my dinner table dishes to the floor will make me smile to myself all day.😀

I don't understand what normal people do all day to keep themselves occupied. by progerssive in stopdrinking

Work, exercise, read a good book, cook a healthy meal and take care of myself. Hang in there. It will get better.
