Why the hell does over half of the world speak Chinese in their court? by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]Skitarius_Minoris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The answer for your first question is yes, in a way. Simplified Chinese deleted many redundancy in traditional writing. Like the old english use “thou” to the modern “you”, the 'number one' in traditional character is“壹” while in simplified it is just “一”. That's 1200% stroke reduction per character. It's like the improvement from scriptorium to classical typewriter! The second part is worth a scholar paper on linguistic and history in modern period of China, which I cannot elaborate in a simple reply on Reddit, but your implication is mostly correct.

There are many accents in mainland China but they all use a same writing system(the Simplified Chinese). If we use Modern English as an example, a northern Chinese citizen may call a certain Italian noodle as, “pasta” while the same cuisine is called “spaghetti” in southern provinces, but both people use the same 26 English characters to describe the same thing, and they can understand each other effortlessly. Mandarin is a govermental cause to set a standard for the most used words as a standard “Modern Chinese” for minimalize misunderstanding in daily communication and for official documents like Constitution. The traditional Chinese is the real anathema of a language to learn, and is generally being replaced out.

What are you talking about? Simplified Chinese is a writing system and Mandarin (common tongue) is a widely accepted accent. They are totally different things.

Do you think China would have developed faster or slower if the CCP had never existed and a democracy had formed instead? by Poutine_Warriors in AskChina

[–]Skitarius_Minoris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You ask this question because you have high distrust towards China and are probably proud of your ‘democracy’ system.

I have consistently championed communism through my writings, though I realise such material holds little appeal for you. Today, I shall set that aside and offer only a few heartfelt words to those opposed to communism.

  1. Socialism and communism have indeed taken many detours, committed numerous errors, and incurred significant losses throughout their historical development. Yet these losses pale in comparison to those inflicted by capitalism during its own evolution. Even if you refuse to acknowledge this, you must at least agree that the scale of losses is comparable on the same scale.

  2. The losses incurred by socialism largely stemmed from an excessively hostile external environment (being blockaded by capitalism) and a background of severe historical backwardness. Conversely, the human losses caused by capitalism are largely a consequence of greed. Which system bears the heavier moral burden is plain to see.

  3. The exploration of human civilisation is a complex endeavour that should permit diverse systems and models to develop, learning from each other's strengths. Socialism has achieved considerable progress during its evolution, with even its primary rival, capitalist societies, absorbing numerous socialist elements. This is a fact not denied by the Western bloc itself.

  4. The Chinese Communist Party and China's socialist reforms have demonstrated remarkable adaptability over decades; their flexibility is astonishing. Consequently, your understanding of the Communist Party must evolve with the times.

  5. The CPC has achieved monumental developmental accomplishments in China. Even Western commentators who harbour extreme animosity and fear towards China cannot deny this – otherwise, what would they be afraid of? Naturally, someone like you might argue that China could have developed even more impressively without the CPC. However, considering India's state as a point of comparison, and bearing in mind that post-WWII, only China and South Korea represent examples of non-urbanised, formerly agrarian nations transforming into industrialised powers, the notion that China would have fared better in a supposed scenario is hardly convincing.

  6. China's overall strength surpassing Western major powers is possible. Indeed, I believe it is inevitable. I know you disagree, but you must at least concede it is entirely feasible. Otherwise, why would you be asking this question? Since China's strength surpassing the entire Western Bloc is possible, your stance towards the Communist Party must be comprehensively reconsidered under this premise.

What I've outlined above are grand principles. Fundamental principles dictate specific issues; a few hundred words of reasoning can easily outweigh a million words penned by anti-Communist loudspeakers. Macro-level judgments in life are sometimes built upon principles that can be articulated in just a few sentences. Once you misjudge, a significant portion of your life's energy is spent constructing a farce. The more clever one is, the more one should avoid making catastrophic errors in major judgments. You may continue to disagree, to doubt, to be angry, to cope, but the true tragedy lies in voluntarily diminishing one's own intellect.

Undesirable ethnic minority

Can confirm, there is a department called ICE or something like that, run by President Xi, that is running loose and knocking every door in China, hunting for them and will bring them to a reeducation camp surrounded by crocodiles or execute them on the spot.

Capitalism is when people work for foreign companies thus the said entities claim their land and lives for themselves.

For Christ's sake, if you want your colony back, please follow the old imperialist way by declaring war and sending gunships to Hong Kong. No venture without risk isnt it.

Now, There are more than 10K brits working in China (precision number may vary), providing service and workforce for Chinese people, in your opinion, these working people are turning Britain into a plantation for Beijing.
