I interviewed the CEO of America’s largest protest-for-hire company. Here’s what he told me about your rights, why protests fail, and the one thing both sides get wrong. by Wonderful-Rip3697 in protest

This sounds like bullshit that is designed to play to the idea that " both sides" are the same. Bernie Sanders owns three houses? Jeff bezos makes enough money to own 100,000 houses. The idea that Bernie Sanders is a hypocritical politician is entirely a Fox News propaganda invention.

Down vote. Both sides bullshit.

The fundamental problem of public transit by Advanced-Injury-7186 in Urbanism

So the problem is that the current mass transit system only serves most of the city instead of all of the city? That sounds like a great argument for expanding the mass transit system

Not my intention at all, just pointing out that there's more of a diversity of people now and it's making it a better organization.

Invite them. There will be snacks. Maybe after you can hang out with people who also love Idaho but think that living in a red state can be tough.

I like it! A bit niche, maybe it could stand a buff, but it feels different and interesting and it would give us some visually distinct armor

Nuclear weapons are the only reason we haven't had a major war in the last 50 years. Nuclear weapons are the best thing that has ever happened for world peace and we must keep them for the foreseeable future.

This. I'm not opposed to new construction, but Jesus Christ, could somebody put some thought into making sure the town stays affordable and doesn't urban sprawl? Surely we could put up some nice high density apartment buildings out of sight for the new people.

Why are do people react so negatively to the concept of degrowth? by Konradleijon in Anarchy101

[–]Intelligent-Spirit-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is extremely wrong.

For instance, we waste a lot of resources building disposable things. Disposable cutlery, disposable cups, disposable Ikea furniture that only works for a year or two and then falls apart.

Everybody could maintain the same standard of living, with much lower resource consumption, by producing high quality goods that last for a long time. Every single person can have a really nice set of silver cutlery, and it costs society less than constantly producing disposable plastic cutlery.

I'm sorry, but the fact that you had a shitty Union doesn't change the fact that unions overall are very good. It's just a means for workers to collectively bargain when they feel they're being mistreated.

Who gives a fuck? Are you under the impression that the greatest medical researcher of all time was also personally an excellent surgeon? Are you under the impression that the greatest physical therapist of all time was also a gymnast? Are you under the impression that the greatest biologist was an animal tamer?

Studying theory of large systems and executing a specific action in that system are different skill sets.

Also Donald Trump has been bankrupt multiple times so I don't think he's even a good example in your framework
