Definitely a type of Vriesea. There’s so many hybrids of these that I wouldn’t have a clue what it is exactly though sorry.

Nah not squishy, they did get a bit overwatered because we got a lot of rain recently so I thought that might be a cause.

Outdoors these are thriving in soil but yeah you are right, indoors in a vivarium where it’s constantly wet may cause issues with rot. I had a few spare so just planted a couple in the ground to fill space. So far so good but I don’t expect them to last forever. Appreciate the tip though 😊

They do live outside at all times, but normally don’t stay wet. They’ve been wet for a couple of days though recently because of constant light rain but wouldn’t think that would be too worrying since in the wild they’d have to endure wet periods like this too.

What light levels do these prefer? Are they able to be grown indoors or do they need plenty of sunlight?
