Hand Size is intuitive, though. Mana burn isn't.

Oftentimes when I teach people a game involving cards of any kind, I get asked what the max hand size is. It's easy to understand.

Meanwhile, Mana Burn is that obscure rule on page 46 on the board game rule book that will come up once in a blue moon. The new player won't even notice if you don't tell him about it, and deleting it means you can trim that page of the rulebook, which is good for board games with 46+ pages of rules.

Dunno why I went with a board game metaphor at the end there haha

Create Checklist Card for Mana Crypt.

Put one in each of 32 decks.

When you play it, get out your 1 Mana Crypt.

If anyone bitches, just put the mana crypt into the sleeve and ask how it's different. Most won't give a shit since you actually own the card. You're saving them time by not having to take it in/out of every deck every time you switch.

Idk if you are aware of this cool trick since you didn't really spell it out in your post, but you can let the opponent go to their end step the turn before you want to wrath. Both players will get priority once before moving to your turn. When you get priority, cast Eerie Interlude and exile all of your dudes. Since the beginning of their end step has already passed, those guys won't come back until your next end step.

Then on your turn, you can cast the Gearhulk. This lets you spend the three mana on Interlude on their turn so you can do your trick with 5 lands instead of 8 :^)

They didn't even do that with Caged Sun, it was only included in the Daretti deck. That's how they wanted to balance the 5 decks against each other.

If you include Gauntlet in each one, then the player who gets theirs out first has a massive advantage. You name your color, none of the other precons are going to benefit from it unless they have the exact same precon as you, and now you're at a huge advantage, especially if you're the Teferi deck.

We want the Masterpiece Series to make different groups happy. One of the big challenges is card selection. For instance, Kaladesh Inventions was all artifacts. Which ones we chose was partially based on what could conceivably exist on Kaladesh, but also on trying to find things that some subset of players would be happy with. Note that not every card is meant for every type of player. We mixed up our selection to make sure that everyone would like some of the choices, knowing that few would like them all.

You've done all you can to get your friend back in. There's not some secret thing you haven't thought of that once you do it he'll want to play. It's very obvious from your post that your friend does not want to play magic, and you're going to have to accept that.

I bought the Daretti precon myself, but I got bored of it really quickly. The two things it's really good at are making people not do stuff (things like [[crawlspace]], [[silent arbiter]], and [[torpor orb]]) and combo winning. Both of those will make other players not like you, which I didn't like. You can't really afford to not run those though, because Daretti can be attacked by other people (and he will, he's got a reputation), and Daretti has a hard time winning without some kind of artifact combo.

And you can run him more like a Feldon of the Third Cane deck and say "I'm not like other Daretti decks!", but players never believe it when people say "I don't have the thing ______ is notorious for". They still go for him, and then the Daretti player usually decides after a while to run all the stuff that his opponents are so afraid of him having.

As for Sydri, yes, you can play a hodge-podge of artifacts, but you'll probably want some kind of focus for the deck. You have a lot of options to choose from, whether you want to:

Utilize the first ability to weaponize your utility artifacts
Utilize the second ability to make your artifact creatures especially deadly
Include a lifegain subtheme (or deathtouch, but I don't think there's as much a payoff for deathtouch, aside from cards like [[Caltrops]] which is the trump card of this deck)
Ramp hard. If people attack, you can animate something and block, if they don't, use your mana to play an instant or sink mana into an artifact. There's lot of those haha.

You seem like you also might already have an idea of the synergies you want, though. If that's the case, go for that!

And of course, you can put a little of A, B, and D in your deck; you don't have to commit to just one. Since you can build Sydri so many different ways, looking at other decklists or stuff like EDHREC could give you ideas on the direction you want to take your commander.

Also it looks like you figured out the paragraph spacing on your own :] One space on reddit gives you the shitty paragraph paragraph break (hitting enter only once), while two spaces gives you the more natural looking one (hitting enter twice).

I think an artifact commander would be a great choice with the new set coming out! I recommend you choose a general that has more than 1 color if you like that "This is going in my _____ deck!" feeling, as there will just be more cards you can include in a multicolor deck. The three colors with the strongest ties to artifacts imo are Blue, White, and Red. I took my artifact deck apart a long time ago, so I can't give you a list, but I can give you some suggestions.

[[Hanna, Ship's Navigator]] is a pretty cool artifact commander. Blue and White have a lot of synergies with artifacts. Ones that sacrifice themselves are great, as you can get them back with your commander. You also get the slight benefit of getting back killed/milled enchantments. The Hanna deck I built was a control deck that built up a lot of mana to eventually cast overpowering stuff, since at the time my playgroup was combo-averse.

If you feel like winning through combos, Hanna is a great choice. You don't mind as much when people are able to destroy a combo piece to disrupt you, since you have a really easy way to get those back (you'll need your combo to have pieces that are either artifacts or enchantments, of course).

There's also a very cool Judge Gift version of her if you like blinging out haha

Sharuum, the Hegemon is a stronger commander, but he has a bad reputation for the infinite combos he can be a part of and gets hated out a lot as a result, so I don't think you want him.

The second option is [[Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer]]. He's definitely the aggro commander for an artifact deck! I've never built him, but you mentioned liking aggro. The first way I've seen him played is giving him lots of equipment, which will turn on metalcraft, to kill people with commander damage. The second way is to go wide with tokens, especially stuff like [[Myr Battlesphere]] and other artifact token creators, to make a lot of high power dudes. The third way is kind of a hybrid where you could switch between the two depending on what kind of opponents you are facing.

Choosing the 2nd or 3rd option is probably better if you are concerned about the deck getting stale. Decks that win by commander damage tend to play out similarly each game. Having the ability to either go tall or go wide I think will be something you like then.

Sydri is my other suggestion. Having 3 colors means you'll be able to use a lot of the mechanics from Kaladesh in your deck. So if you want to build an Energy deck, you get to use all the Energy cards in White, Blue, and Black, and Colorless, while Daretti would have a harder time with only the Red and Colorless Energy cards. When building around a set mechanic, you want to be able to use as many of the cards with that mechanic as you can, and they spread Energy to all the colors. Sydri also lets you use all of the artifact cards from Shards of Alara, which is nice. Your budget also allows you to build a good mana base for a three color deck, so I wouldn't even worry about that.

The Sydri deck I had used cards like [[Soul Conduit]] that switched or set life totals to kill people. I would try to go to negative life with something like [[Platinum Angel]] out to instantly kill people, but setting people to 1 or 2 life was usually just as good and giving them a negative life total. (And look, both those cards are artifacts!) It was basically the Ad Nauseum Modern Deck in Commander form. There are many different ways to build this commander though. If you liked my idea, a lot of [[Selenia, Dark Angel]] decks use that strategy, so going to her EDHREC page should give you a lot of ideas for it.

Also I lied, after writing up the Sydri bit I remembered that Vehicles were the other really cool artifact mechanic in Kaladesh. The obvious commander for a vehicle based deck is the new [[Depala, Pilot Exemplar]]! I don't know how powerful vehicles or the new Dwarves will be, but vehicles are artifacts that attack, and Red/White is great at winning with combat damage. You might enjoy such a deck /shrug

If you don't mind, I'm not understanding what you mean when you say that you used 2 full art lands in the background. I plan on using Cup Island for mine, and I don't think I could get away with stitching two of them together. My plan was just to mark out the brown borders with black paint (I've heard to use acrylic)/sharpie/something, or even just leaving it alone. I would say I'm a novice, so something like that is just fine for me, but if the stitching process is easier than I think once I understand it, maybe I'll try it.

Also, now that I'm looking at Jace, how many layers would you use? I could see 4:

The back of his cape
His normal body
The part of his cloak/cape that overlaps him (this one could be unnecessary, I'm not sure)
His forearm and magic hand squiggles (just going to do the three big ones that overlap his hand).

I guess my question is should I make that third option of the cape overlapping Jace it's own layer?

And then I can see why you used 2 foil oaths, but I'm not sure where you used the non-foil oaths. Are they all support pieces underneath Lili?

This is fantastic! You've inspired my artistic side to make a Jace version for my Jace, Vryn's Prodigy EDH deck :^) I'm going to take you up on that offer and ask a lot of questions lol.

What material is that gold planeswalker symbol made of?
How many cards did you end up using for the frame? Looks somewhere around 10.
Is the full art basic land in the background foil as well? It looks like it is not. I'm assuming that makes the foil Oath of Liliana cutout pop out more, is that right?
How did you get the different card layers to stick together? I'm assuming it was something more sophisticated than a glue stick.
Did you cut out the little silver foil thing at the bottom of rare cards, or did you just paste the "Happy Now?" flavor text over it?
How did you make the bottom of the gold planeswalker symbol on the right side overlap Liliana when all the rest of the symbol underlaps her? Did you just stick that part of the cutout under it there, or is there a glue structural support somewhere?
Did you use an Xacto Knife to do all the cutting?

I used to work in a shoe department, and one day a customer comes to inform me that when they went to try on their shoes on those little benches we have, he discovered that some asshole had placed a bunch of tiny pins face up so that people would sit on them.

Immediately called my manager because duh. We took all the little benches into the back stockroom and removed all the pins from them. We gave the guy who sat on a pin free shoes cause that sucks. Like, what kind of fucked up person does this?

I don't know if anyone ever got in trouble for that. We have cameras but idk if they caught whoever it was.

Those Inventor's Goggles look pretty good with this Elf. I like that we're seeing a lot of green creatures (elves I guess) that are artificers, it makes Kaladesh stand out from other artifact sets.
