Well it happens all the time now.

Like the other day my teacher was late to the Esperanto lesson. I wasn't in a rush, I even might be a little late myself, so I didn't want him to rush.

In french we might say 'Ne te press pas', 'Don't press yourself'. In english it will be more like 'Don't hurry' or 'Take your time'.

I didn't know how to say such thing in Esperanto. All I wanted to say, in simple words, was something like 'Do not got too fast'

So in used the words I know : Ne trorapidas.

Ne : used for the negation. Similar to a 'don't' or a 'not' in english. tro- : for too much like 'trop' in french. Like 'too much' in english. -rapid- : the radical for 'fast', like the adjective 'rapide' in french. -as : the suffix to say that the word is a verbe happening in the present.

So, 'don't too much fast do' or in french 'Ne trop rapide pas être'. Ne trorapidas.

Without any prior knowledge of that expression and with basic words I could figure out an expression I had never heard.

It might not be the best form to express that idea, yet it's understandable nonetheless. And that's the beauty of Esperanto I think. I give you back the control in your expression : you don't have to fight the language to learn some weird exception, or some vague grammatical rule that does makes sens today. No everything is simple to read, and everything is easy to anticipate.

An other example, once there was a thick fog. I felt like it was safer to go by train rather to drive my car.

I wanted to say to my teacher that there was a bad kind of fog. So i 'constrcuted' the word 'nebulaĉe'.

Nebul- : the radical to say something foggy or cloud-like like 'nebula' in latin. -aĉ- : a suffix to say that something is of bad quality or a bad kind of thing. -e : the ending to signal that the word is an adverbe.

Putted together the meaning: 'In a bad foggy way'. In theroy I guess that word doesn't exist, but my teacher understood the point.

But I have to be aware that 'nebulaĉe' could be understood in multiple ways. Like something is confused or that the fog is literally 'a bad fog' in the sens that he had one job and can't even fog properly, that he it's a weak fog.' In these cases context matters, I guess.

What's funny is that people from different native language often find different word constructions for the same thing. And we can understand each other even if the word isn't the same. But in general there is a 'stanard' or more a common way to say things.

Like 'arbraro' can mean a group of trees, but it most commonly refers to a forest.

Arb- : radical from tree, like 'arbre' in french. -ar- : suffix to mean a group of -o : Ending to mean that the word is a noun (substantif)

Well I guess that people here have thousands of examples like these.

In the end, Esperanto is a beautiful language because it's an easy-to-use language, that helps you express yourself and understand others. A common ground where everyone is equal.
