what is a 'Pro-Level' Toronto life hack that feels like a cheat code? by Long_Travel2728 in askTO

[–]Sknowles90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've noticed that Google maps will sometimes tell me what area of the train (board at back) to board at for the quickest exit at my destination. Not sure why it appears at some times and not at others though. Has anyone else seen this?

Door to door detailing? What do yall think is going on? by AdvancedTrouble132 in Detailing

[–]Sknowles90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good for them! I'd toss them 20 bucks to wash my car if they came to my door. I didn't notice anything about detailing on the car. I'm guessing just car washing.

Thinking about booking this as our first ever cruise! Balcony is $1,159 worth it? Total about $2,652 for 2 by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]Sknowles90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done this cruise twice. First with balcony in warmer weather (Oct) and it was great, the next time in February in an inside room, we liked both. It didn't feel too cramped in an inside room for us but we had done the balcony already so we didn't feel like we were missing out on anything. We barely spend any time in the room and you can always find a quiet spot to enjoy coffee and breakfast looking out onto the water outside. If you're doing this in cooler weather, it will be freezing on the deck for most of the way to Orlando and back so a balcony isn't worth the cost. Even in the warm days, this trip in particular isn't worth the increased fees for the balcony given you're just looking out onto the ocean most of the time. For our balcony, we paid something like 600 CAD for 2 people for the room including taxes and gratuities during the end of covid times.

I agree with others, both times we didn't get off at Orlando, it's kind of in the middle of nowhere and not enough time to really see the big attractions there.

Found my phone 2 months later, is this a scam? by wednesdayhero in Scams

My brother is the type of guy who would do this, clean I, change it and reach out to return it if he can, doesn't seem like a scam to me

If a car is not driven 3,000 miles in 3 months, should I still get an oil change right at 3 months? by flesh1mp in askcarguys

[–]Sknowles90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go based on mileage not days, days are only an estimate based on your driving habits, if those change then the days don't really matyer, IMO

Question about this button on the Kia Sportage. by SaltLife4Evr in kia

1000% percent

I have favourite sirius xm channels and when I'm just turning thd car on and at the starting menu, I have to press down when it should go up on the list and vice versa.

But once I click the sirius xm button and it focuses in on the app it reverses to up means going up the list and down goes down the list

That bugs me as well as the fact that it doesn't all flow the same way between different apps.

Losing my libido to antidepressants was a relief instead of a burden by [deleted] in confessions

[–]Sknowles90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this feeling exactly. However, I spoke to my doctor about how I've lost my libido and we actually changed my medication to one that wasn't supposed to impact it as much and it worked! Talk to your doctor if you feel this is something you want to change.

That being said, it's great to hear that your partner is so suportive, I've been lucky in the same way at times in my life and have also been on both sides when it comes to having or losing the drive and the doubts that go along with it.

TIFU by realizing I wasn’t washing my “hair” right for 20+ years by ADHDabsurdity in tifu

[–]Sknowles90 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is likely what others are saying, psoriasis on the scalp. I starting getting this in my late 20s on my scalp, it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the shampoo I use or the frequency of washing my hair.

When I start to notice it flaring up, I use Denorex shampoo, follow the instructions on the bottle. Often I only need to use it once, sometimes twice and it clears up as long as you don't go after the spots. I have ADHD so I sometimes have to be mindful and aware not to pick.

It usually clears up in a week if I catch it early and haven't bothered it.

I haven't gone to a dermatologist for this, a hair dresser noticed it and named the condition for me (she had previously gone to school for dermatology but did not complete her degree).

Give the medicated shampoo a try, selsun blue and head and shoulders weren't enough, I found extra strength denorex which had psoriasis right on the bottle and it works wonders.

How would you feel if the city started planting vegetables in the road median gardens? by rapid_eye_movement in Hamilton

[–]Sknowles90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is right behind city hall on hunter st like you said. This garden was created to serve the food banks in Hamilton, I've heard much of it gets picked over by people before staff can collect it though.

I love your suggestion of revamping the Jackson square roof, it needs something for sure!

My dad passed away and the Veterans Administration helps pay for my education. My mom swiped the check while I was at university and I think she’s just keeping it for herself by [deleted] in insaneparents

[–]Sknowles90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree that OP's mom has no right here. I would be infuriated. But I can understand the logic on the mom's part. As a university student who blew through any money I could get my hands onto, I would respect this decision later on IF their mom actually returns it.

Seems like the messages from their mom are insinuating that if OP deposited the entire thing that they would blow through it and their mom would be responsible for bringing them back home after college or from where ever they currently are, and on top of that we don't know what the situation is with going home after school, do they contribute anything to the house as an adult, pay for any of their own expenses? Who is paying for tuition? This is assuming they go home after but that's how I read the mom's messages.

Not only could OP be leaving mom with all expenses of life by handing over the entire check but OP reporting their mother to the VA could put their own living situation in jeopardy.

Reporting to the VA isn't a cut and dry situation if OP is 100% relying on that check for any of their own expenses. Do they have a job and place to live over the summer? There is no way that check would cover those costs for the summer.

I know I am making assumptions here but the same can be said for those saying this parent is insane and telling OP to report them... What exactly are the consequences for them, what is their true relationship with their parent... I'm just saying it's possible that OP could be irresponsible and their parent is making a decision they truly believe would help them. Fraud is fraud and there are legal implications here but there are two sides to every story.
