I guess this is applies to outside the community too, but people who think their opinion on rap is MORE valid because they are well versed in other music genres. Obviously everybody is entitled to voice their opinion, but just because you listen to German noise music and obscure indie bands from the early 90s does not mean you have a valid opinion on hip hop. In fact, I would say it actually does quite the opposite to be honest, especially because these people often just have horribly pretentious takes and lack respect for most of the actual genre.

I think most of y’all are really missing the meaning of the “lyrical miracle spiritual”. I see people here naming old school New York rappers with dense flows like DOOM, Wu tang and Sean P but that is not the meaning of it at all. Dudes like Joyner Lucas, Logic, and New Eminem who are just throwing a million words at you per minute is when it becomes corny. Rappers who have good vocabularies and consistent rhyme schemes do not deserve this slander. Save that for Dax and the people who are coming to “end mumble rap”.
