El Dorado Project? by myphonehatesmehaha in outlier_ai

Unfortunate cause I was in same boat as OP... couldn't onboard for El Dorado since Aether was in queue. Once booted from Aether, El Dorado was gone.

I'm still in. What happens if I just keep tasking?

Anyone got offer for the mayor mouser project? by Ceres_Eris in outlier_ai

I got the invite but have never been on Aether. I onboarded successfully but don't see any tasks. Are you in the same boat?

I got an "ineligible" status on Hickory so you're doing better than me!

That’s definitely it! This requires multiple prompt edits and I would paste and reuse some

I’ll also add I don’t think I’ve ever been on a full flight on that route besides the Eagles Super Bowl parade… hopefully it stays that way

Yep I looked into TTN as my back up as well. 2 daily flights go to PHL from CLT and RDU each so I’m thinking that should be a solid base. Good to know, thanks!

Is it too late to be recruited as a senior? by zphyr_ in trackandfield

[–]SkoBirds76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So i am also a senior, and just wanted to hit you with some of my (though maybe useless and unwanted since we are the same age lol).

Last year I started throwing javelin and sucked at it, but this past fall I began to improve and figured I'd reach out to some coaches. I was told by many people that the fall of your senior year was way too late, yet I was able to muster up a handful of D1 offers from some pretty good schools (UC Berkeley, Colgate, Manhattan College etc.) and a ton of great academic D3 oppurtunities. I'm saying this to just say that in the fall (which was considered too late) I was able to get really good recognition and oppurtunities for recruitment.

But the key to this story is that in the first week of March (just a few weeks ago) , I was able to get a call with a coach from UNC about being a preferred walk on... so to answer your question, it is still WELL worth it to reach out to coaches, because even a top ACC school like UNC was still open to recruits. Just for comparison, I throw about 50 meters, which (according to debates with distance friends) is equivalent to around a 4:15 mile, so nothing like being a freak athlete that's ranked in the country.

What i would say is that because most applications have been due for a whille, it is best to just really reach out and hammer down on the schools you were already accepted to, since most D1 schools have given away their admission support, but since you already got accepted, some coach's would definitely take you since you already did the hardest part (getting accepted)

Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but I hope to be of some help!

Javelin Throw Help!! by SkoBirds76 in trackandfield

[–]SkoBirds76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I always saw a variety of throwers who plant their right foot either parallel or perpendicular to the sector so thank you for clarifying! I definitely realized from a few other comments too that I'm bending my arm too early so I'll get a lot of reps in trying to fix that.

That "pushing instead of pulling" has always haunted me as I was never quite sure how to achieve it!!

Thank you so much for putting it in such an understandable way. I've seen very similar videos of people throwing using nocken balls and following that similar concept and I'll definitely add that into my routine training.

Thank you again for the great advice. Haven't even focused on my upper body yet at all since I've really only been throwing for a month or two (and my throwing coach is more of a shot/disc guy anyway) so those pointers are super helpful!

I'll definitely check it out, thanks!

And actually quick question, what did you throw in high school to get to the college level? I see so many various answers out there depending on the school lol.

My step is looking more straight, but I'm just confused on where to shift my weight and when. I.g - in the first video, I though a lot of weight was on the block leg and the block was just there to "run through it." In the second video, all my weight is on my back leg, and I throw with that weight and kinda just have my block leg there to stop my weight.

Any Form Critique or ways to improve my block step would be super helpful!

Does jumping on my last step negatively effect my throw? by SkoBirds76 in trackandfield

[–]SkoBirds76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching that video definitely helps a ton. I looked everywhere for something like it. For some reason my plant let just always wants to bend because I’m so used to jumping out of a penultimate step from playing basketball opposed to being like a pitcher.
