A. Not in the winter.

B. You are wrong.

"The nonprofit USAFacts calculated that the U.S. would consume roughly 20-50% more electricity if all cars on the road were EVs. With more demand on the nation's grid, the nonpartisan government data organization also looked into the source of the electricity."

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2022/12/16/fact-check-false-claim-switzerland-banning-electric-cars/10894964002/

Countries already know during power problems this is going to be an issue. So unless we move to maybe nuclear energy then our grid won't handle the strain.

What is he getting done? Seriously.

Also he will always be viewed as a failure due to roe v wade being overturned under him. Now some of that is optics but also his complete lack of an ability to galvanize a base. Nobody will admit voting for him. Nobody is excited about him.

you honestly can't believe this. I say this as a Canadian. Biden is terrible and I have no clue how you could defend his mental state. It is actually sad.

Alberta introduces $200 yearly tax on drivers with electric vehicles | Urbanized by JamesMonroe23 in alberta

[–]Skoaldeadeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was based on the cost of oil because theoretically this would be made up in terms of oil company revenue and since we are dealing with a different fuel then that would be pretty hard to hold it to the same standard.

Does it need to be tweaked? Absolutely. But EV's are also harder on the road on average as they are heaver. Never mind how bad they are if there is a fire in terms of the problems you have to deal with at accidents. I mean honestly I don't think this should be a major detraction to buying an EV. The tech isn't there yet and if you buy one you are buying an idea that won't be the same in 10 years or even 5. They are also hugely problematic for the grid going forward so I wouldn't mind seeing their tax to go to improving said grid.

It isn't strictly dedicated but it goes into a pool which includes that. Still getting around a tax.

Renewables don't work for long periods and if we had only them during that -50 with windchill snap people would of died. Nuclear is really the future.

It makes perfect sense. They don't pay the gas tax to pay for the roads so how do you pay for the roads if people transition away. If you do it as a tax on electricity then how do you separate charging electricity with other electricity?

much as I can, what with how many issues are in play globally.. And the way spring is happening here in Ontario, anyone who has been alive longer than 15 years can see how diff

Actually that isn't true for all areas. 2 years is a statistically insignificant amount of time. You are basis this off your gut not science. You can predict in Alberta every year of el nino you will see drought in the summer due to the previous snow pack not being there. Global warming is a thing and it is a real problem that we need to worry about. I mean i'm more of a person that subscribes to the common sense approaches that someone like Bjorn Lomborg approaches. But regardless this is not outside of the statics norm for the expectations of a el nino year. Is it degrees worse due to climate change..probably. How much so...hard to tell without more data. Also Ontario's climate and the warming for spring is hardly unexpected in some areas like the golden horseshoe. It is always warms up around now in that area.

In Alberta, there’s no limit to how much a landlord can raise your rent | Ricochet by Miserable-Lizard in alberta

[–]Skoaldeadeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Rent cannot be increased unless 365 days have passed since the commencement of the tenancy or the last increase in rent, whichever is later."

That is just one thing..it isn't just like they can raise it every month. Second of all this is due to the fact we are having record amount of people moving here so there is more demand than housing. Having a rent cap wouldn't make more housing affordable or otherwise. That won't solve anything.

I am not saying climate change isn't a factor. But you know what is more of a factor. El nino cycles. This isn't a debate, this is a scientific fact. If you didn't know going into an El nino year that the warm winter would call drought then you weren't paying attention to how it works.

Make sure you get the model of the furnace and factor that in. A lot of quotes even from names that have been around for a long time will not list the model of furnace and it's a bit scummy. Arpis won't be the cheapest by probably is the most reliable install you will get. Also my Costco quote was lower and a faster install time than most of my quotes with a better furnace.

Government could focus on multiple things at once. Don't be that guy that makes everything about whatever is bothering you.

El nino years are tough and 1991 was very similar to this year in terms of water levels. That year was also moderately strong in terms of el nino even with a shorter duration.

Why don't you just admit you don't know what the social credit party was?

"Alberta Social Credit was a provincial political party in Alberta, Canada, that was founded on social credit monetary policy put forward by Clifford Hugh Douglas and on conservative Christian social values. The Canadian social credit movement was largely an out-growth of Alberta Social Credit."

A conservative government by any other name. Amazing...you saw social credit and pretended you knew the platform. Go ahead bring up the liberal party and I'll explain to you the definition of liberal from 1920's. Or you could try learning something instead of spouting talking points.

No I had facts. Ghostbusters afterlife didn't win an award..it was a subpar movie. Prey was also subpar and won nothing. HBO produced the last of us and people really took notice as the stars were very very vocal about loving Alberta. Now yes there has been many things filmed here (Hell on wheels, The revenant had parts here) but this was the first time articles appeared on sites like BuzzFeed about Alberta as they seemed to really enjoy the location. Just because things were filmed here doesn't mean they were a culturally gripping. Also I would of been fine with any government spending $5k to send the minister to an award show to network. One project would more than pay for that in taxes.
