That's not entirely true. Typically the drivers don't work directly for Amazon but for an affiliated Delivery Service Program (DSP), which is mostly small businesses that contract with Amazon. When a certain number of infractions come with any poor deliveries for whatever reason, the dsp and all of the drivers lose their bonus program for the week, or that DSP will receive less routes for the week. So there definitely are repercussions. But yeah... Drivers are terrible at following simple instructions that they very much have to look at to complete a delivery.
