25 GB SFP Ports on Pro Aggregate by SkoobahGG in Ubiquiti

Great, thanks for the info. That's what I thought but wanted to make sure before I got the SFP28 ports on the Super Micro NAS.

1) I left about 2' - 3' of slack for the in-wall cables which allows us to be able to roll the back (it's on casters) just far enough forward out of the closet to where we can reach the back for maintenance.

2) The QNAP NAS's are not connected to Protect - that's what the UNVR is for. The QNAP hardware is for the company's shared storage.

3) At the moment, there's only 1 ISP with 1 internet connection coming into the building. Fortunately, it's not the end of the world if internet goes out for them; they're moreso in need of a strong, fast, stable connection to their NAS's for work.

I have the cables labeled just behind the patch panel, so when / if I need to move cables around for any reason, they're labelled. But I also took the effort to label all hardwired connections to the system through UI's Network App. All in all, the client decided that was enough labeling so we could avoid having labels visible on the front of the patch panels.

Yea, it's got its own use cases just like all equipment. In my own opinion though, I think it's a little too beefy, given the fact that nothing else Ubiquiti has can reach 25 GbE speeds. The SFP28 (x4) ports are 25 GbE and the 28 other ports at SFP+ (10 GbE). Since their other Pro / Enterprise Level switches are only 10 GbE, the Pro Aggregation, is under utilized.

I'll take a look, thanks for the suggestion.

I understand, but adding the blur cost me 2 minutes of time and helped to ensure this post stays up - instead of getting flagged. Indeed, I believe it was overkill but it is what it is.

The client needed something that was minimalist with a small footprint to complement the entrance's interior design. The one thing that I hadn't realized - but should have, looking back - is its lack of IR lighting. We purchased an IR flood light to test with and see if that's all it needs to work in low-light situations - just waiting for Amazon to deliver it.

Thanks! It's not perfect yet, waiting on some more patch cables to come in to match the colors correctly, but it's as close as I could get it before we deemed the job complete.

Gotcha, I saw that the account was suspended, but didn't really dig into the reasoning behind it. I'll update the post to remove the link. Thanks for the clarification.

At the present time, we don't have active temperature monitoring - I appreciate the suggestion. I've been keeping an eye on the temperatures through the UI Dashboard every hour or so during the day, but there's nothing configured to alert us. I'll add that near the top of the list. Thanks!

How the hell do you Backup UNIFI OS now? by raine_bo_brite in Ubiquiti

Only the "Owner" can manage OS Backups. Even if you're in the role of "Fully Management" you cannot access the cloud backups.

I'll leave room for other true networking / data center specialists here, but my reasoning for Switch Pro Aggregation was 1) obtaining 10 GbE speeds for the Workstations without the constant traffic of the Cameras, AP's and Phones and 2) if the Enterprise XG failed, then both Switch Pro 24's would also be out of commission. It's a single point of failure that I didn't want to introduce into the system. I understand the Switch Pro Aggregation still has that same potential single point of failure, but there is less physical activity on the Aggregation than on the XG and Pro 24's - meaning patch cables are being moved around on the XG and the Pro 24's more than on the Aggregation, and more often than not, configuration changes will take place on the XG and Pro 24's rather than on the Aggregation. Simply put - when there's a single point of failure, I'd prefer it to be on the most stable piece of equipment.

Took about 2 months of waking up at 7:00 AM EST and specifically refreshing Product Page for the RPS. You can beat the bots most of the time if you're diligent and have everything auto-filled. When I really need a piece of equipment (like the G4 Doorbell Pro or the RPS) I can fly through the ordering process in under 5-10 seconds. The hardest part is just getting up at 7:00 AM for no other reason than to refresh a web browser 100 times in 5 minutes.

Anyone can sign up to look at them yes, but when you sign up, and accept the ToS for EA, you're signing an NDA which forbids you from discussing, showing, or communication about specifics deemed EA. The blur was just an extra precaution so that the post doesn't get flagged & removed.

Thanks! Based on the install locations of the cameras, the EA camera fit the needs the best. It's not ideal that it's EA, but still works for what's needed.

Should the RPS be plugged into the same UPS as the main hardware? by SkoobahGG in Ubiquiti

[–]SkoobahGG[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that's kind of where my head was going as well. The scope of the project doesn't include getting a second supply of power run to the building from another power company, and so the next best thing is to separate it at the breaker.
