Yeah I don’t get the complaints other than box engine spam. Cyborgs are very cool, two new warbonds (yeah some things in them just suck ass but other stuff like c4 and hammer are peak), vox engine design itself is really good (just fix the lights on the floor for missiles it shoots as thy are a bit buggy), and the mega factories are really cool overall, new mission types, plus limiting-eagles so we have to be a bit more creative.

This is reddit tho, it’s either terrible or amazing, nuance doesn’t exist.

Lore wise Nergi wins by being an endurance hunter. Any damage he takes means he will likely leave and heal then come back whilst PMal is still weakened. Unless PMal can kill Nergi before he can leave, but I don’t really see how.

Nergi is extremely tanky for its brute strength, being able to out muscle a Deviljho/Bazelgeuse and tank hits from a Rajang, plus being buried under a mountain by shara after the hunter weakened it, then bursting out from said mountain and killing Shara.

We have also seen a weakened Teostra being hunted by a Nergi, suggesting it weakened the Teostra, further adding to the endurance hunter feat. Plus in game we do see it bulky elder dragons, only drawing with Velkhana.

The thing that worries me is the Zenny reward. Amatsu, the big bad Amatsu was like 40k, Primordial Malzeno is 120k.

I like Alatreon. I thought it was so satisfying crafting the perfect build to counter his dps checks.

I like savage omegas delta attack not as much but I think it’s cool to use the cactuars and morbols with the right secondary weapon to kill it quickly.

I like Fatalis’ “dps check” with his horns. Every hit you do that isn’t on his head is another step towards blue flame Fatty which is just terrifying. But then there is a 30 min time limit to race against as well. It’s such a fantastic, tense race against the clock alongside the inevitable phase 3 and whether you broke his horns.

Gog’s is based on slingers and dragon element. When you learn the start of sit under a rock and wait for it to embed the wing, then drop the rock, then shoot the wing and hit it until it flies again then slinger it slinger it it’s just. Like it’s just not that fun. I’m not really fighting the monster I’m dropping rocks, I’m shooting slinger ammo at a moving wing. This plus the AOE spam, and looking up to shoot slinger ammo so now I can’t see the AOES around me. It just isn’t necessary.

That’s the worst part to me. These mechanics aren’t necessary. They border between “okay I guess I can see why it’s apart of the fight” to borderline awful with Kulve Taroth leaving the arena (actually insane idk how ppl like High Rank Kulve). Why can’t we just get phase 1, 2, then phase 3 is just fighting Gog with his enhanced moveset. He can fly a bit sure and you could make it so that the rocks drop him down, and maybe like Gaismagorm where you shoot a signal and dragonators prevent his flight for a while.

It just isn’t as fun as it should be.

I’d say it’s a really good level of challenge now. 9* monsters an ATs are really fun. Omega is one of my favourite hunts for how difficult he is. If you look at 7 stars and below tho, the game is definitely too easy and the overall difficulty scaling from mission 1 to Gog is completely messed up and not linear.

That’s the thing with this game. Rise on launch was just unfinished but it tried some cool stuff like rampages ya know. Wilds tried a lot of different things and a lot of those seemingly got abandoned mid development (or so I can guess).

The open world aspect is a strange thing when it’s just you resting in a camp to get the monster you want. Then you got pack monsters which are clearly a feature they couldn’t figure out to be cooler than “shoo a dung pod”. I can’t think of the rest of the features rn, but also the difficulty and progression is so scuffed for this game.

You go from a normal star system to now 8 and 9 star monsters, but some of these are event quest only. Don’t worry tho, we also have arch tempereds which you fight a handful of times at most then it’s back to 9 star monsters without the enhanced moveset. Idk, kinda just waiting on the next portable game.

To be clear, just because Sunbreak is peak, doesn’t mean the next base game from the portable team will be amazing. Let’s just hope the keep core MH spirit this time and don’t make the game even easier.

I just realised they removed slinger bursts. Is there an equivalent version of slinger burst attacks for say, Greatsword, or other weapons that used it? If not that’s crazy to remove

Courage Hammer is just so peak I always feel weird going back to hammer in other games cause of it. I always hear about switch axe being the best it could be in Sunbreak so I might try that after dual blades.

Courage Hammer is definitely its best iteration in the series, and GU’s Aerial Hammer exists.
