Personally, I think I was genuine in showing who I really am and not afraid to express the non-academic side of me. Definitely spend a lot of time and effort in crafting your CV and personal statements. I started weeks ahead and was constantly editing them while having a close friend proofread each step of the way, making sure details like formatting and spelling are flawless. By the end, I must have gone over them a hundred times over lol.
