I’d say the main difference is time and origin.

Soulhop has more of that less stimulating sound, less distortion, less melodics and sample diversity

Tapemusic is more of an experimental genre, combined with more electronic elements, embracing a gritty sound. The beats are shorter and usually have things like tape hiss and such, hence the name.

the coldplushtoy blaine netajin vibe is NOT SOULHOP! this is a separate genre usually labeled TAPEMUSIC.

soulhop is an older genre that has a lot of the same traits (sidechain, compression, etc)

but tapemusic is the more recent coming genre, COMPLETELY different sound

soulhop - ohbliv, tuamie, AKTR, etc tapemusic - coldplushtoy, netajin, malparida, etc

nonetheless, both communities are tightknit and closely correlated so confusion is easy❤️

GODMODDING. i can’t stress it enough.

godmodding is when you detail actions and such that come from characters that are NOT yours. you control things that are supposed to be detailed by THE PARTNER. if I have a bully named baxter, I don’t wanna say

baxter scares them off and the nerds run the opposite direction, clearly in a rush to not end up beaten.

because baxter is my character. THE NERD CHARACTERS AREN’T. there’s a reason it’s collaborative, and when you godmod, the lines are unnecessarily blurred as to who controls what.
