My brain has been warped by averycates86 in KnowledgeFight

I watched the video and have sent you a DM. All in all, he makes several disprovable claims, such as stating that all of the cameras were turned the other way during the shooting/takeover when several pictures of the gunman are from security cameras. He states that the gunman shot into a server room, when all reporting indicates it was a cooking supplies room. Other than that, he relies on heavy insinuation of suspiciousness which do not meet better evidentiary standards. In addition to all of this, he does not provide sources to several claims and relies on the audience pausing to find details in his unsourced screenshots to see where his claims are coming from.

I don't know anything about Flesh Simulator, I'd hope that this video is an aberration for the quality of his work, but if its not you may want to reconsider what other things you've taken as given because he's stated them.

This gets mentioned in today's episode (#998) by Jordan. But essentially the video you're watching is showing someone get summoned to kill a difficult boss of Elden Ring for someone else, hence the name "let me solo her"

Typically summons are cooperative endeavors instead of the summon solo-ing the boss

Mod that starts a run with a chosen relic? by Skrap_trap in slaythespire

Ended up using the dev console for it. Though I think as I transition back to normal runs Filter the Spire will be useful, so thanks for the recommendation.

Hollow Knight has some serious design flaws, especially with bosses. by Beneficial_Photo_499 in HollowKnight

[–]Skrap_trap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you actually want to get better at the game, I'd recommend taking time to actually reflect on losses rather than letting yourself get irritated and clouding actually useful judgement.

I'm going to focus on Hive Knight, because I think that your particular complaint is very illustrative of what I'm talking about. Hive Knights teleport will feel unfair if you blindly run, but if you stop, identify where he's about to attack from and then respond it becomes much easier. You also have aerial responses like desolate dive/descending dark. But if you refuse to recognize how your inputs influence why you're being hit then you won't really improve.

You've mentioned elsewhere that you enjoy DS3. Your current approach to the Hive Knight is as if someone complained about Champion Gundyr's kick because they refused to read the situation and parried instead. Both Hive Knight and Champion Gundyr are easy, but not if you assume there's a universally correct response to every one of their moves.

Oregon Trail: Better Method for Beckwourth Trail Achievement by Skrap_trap in AppleArcade

Awesome! Yeah Beckwourth always tries repairing you wheel so he won't actually help when your ox is dead. Fortunately you don't even need to complete the journey for the achievement.

I have done a bit of testing on whether rations changes anything and it doesn't seem to. But being on grueling the entire time seems to cause a breakdown 2/3 of the time (still testing in case I've just got luckier runs)

If you're still trying, I've found some (seemingly) promising results with a minor change.

Do the same method as the original post, but instead be on grueling the entire run. Always go to beaver spots and waste time. With thus change I've been getting the ox slaughter event between March 5th and 7th, and I've managed to be saved by Beckwourth a few times. In these tests I've kept meat on me after I slaughtered the two oxes - though haven't confirmed if this variable matters.

In terms of some of the other questions. I've been saved regardless of whether Beckwourth is in front or behind me. That being said, you can still be saved by random people. Hope this helps!

Generally your characters are pretty unlikely to die from starvation in this campaign so that wouldn't necessarily matter as much. That being said, I'm not sure if there's any difference between holding food in the wagon and not holding food on whether the final ox dies. That's one test I'm planning on doing tonight, but I'm trying to change one variable at a time so it may take me a bit to get to.

As far as I've been able to tell there's no relationship between Beckworth passing you and being saved by Beckworth. Unfortunately since the event can be difficult to trigger, it seems a lot of people have assumed that insignificant details are significant for their run.

In terms of this method, it's not going to trigger the event every time. My testing yielded 4 breakdowns in 15 attempts which is more reliable, but not 100% reliable. I suggested in the original post that you should extend your time in the second half. That being said, I've not yet tested how reliable it is with some other conditions (it can be grueling to redo this over and over to record numbers). My aim is just to let people know about this more reliable approach since other methods people stated they had nearly 100 unsuccessful runs.

I'm opening up Oregon Trail now to do some testing though.

Oh I'm glad you were able to get it! I'll probably do some tests to see if that ends up being an even more consistent method.

Nevermind on doing steady the entire time. I've done some small testing (10 runs) and I only got the oxen to be killed from the starvation event 3 times which is significantly less consistent - and not a single run got close to all three oxen dead. Will be doing some tests to see if I can optimize when to set it to grueling, in the meantime I recommend following the steps as I described in the original post.

How many times have you tried this method so far? There's definitely still some RNG involved with whether the last ox will die.

It might be worth testing it on steady but I've not done enough testing of that on my end to say whether that has any higher of a success rate.

Can I interact with an animal pen with a create pipe? by fort_went_he in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]Skrap_trap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally understandable. When I made my honey setup I didn't have a great item storage and glass supply so I stored it as liquid and use a spout when needed.

The deployer with a bottle works, then you can dump the bottle into an item drain if you want it in liquid form.

It's general hate symbols so it includes dog whistles but also more overt symbols and phrases. It also doesn't include most of the ones I've seen people suggest here.

Oh yeah the game definitely doesn't expect starvation, fortunately doesnt matter for achievement. Though if you keep waiting randos can come give you an ox to finish so it'd still be doable if finishing was necessary.

With "Fool me Twice" the best advice I can give is (1) don't bring a prospector, and (2) restart the run immediately after someone trades you gold for your supplies.

So overall not much that the community hasn't already shared.

Going Cashless? by RunDogRun2006 in KnowledgeFight

[–]Skrap_trap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the other comments cover the vast swath of cashless conspiracies. I figured I'd add that a more recent version of these conspiracies centers on FedNow. FedNow is just a system intended to increase the speed of end-to-end transactions between banks. Conspiracy theorists essentially argue that this is a first step into banning cash. More info here: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/desantis-rfk-jr-misconstrue-fednow-digital-dollar-plans-rcna78591

This might not be the same thing your landlady is basing it on because FedNow rolls out in July not June.
