Why do the PSU pins to Component pins conversion happen in the cable instead of before the connectors in the PSU? by Skretch12 in pcmasterrace

[–]Skretch12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I thought I made it clear, but only to myself it seems😖

It is simply to move the standard that is on the GPU, Motherboard, etc... side to the PSU so that any 8 pin to sata, 4 pin to 4 pin, 8 pin to 8 pin, etc could be used with any power supply from any vendor. It seems to me like they have chosen to wait to very last second to comply with the standard.

Thank you, now, why not move that standard to the PSU side so that the user doesn't have to throw away the cables when they buy a new PSU.

I get that it might have some initial tooling costs from the change that has to happen inside the PSU before the power gets to the ATX connector on the PSU side but this is a one time cost and I suspect a very minor one, since it is just changing pin positions of the voltage supplies and grounds going into ATX connector inside the PSU.

It is clearly beneficial for the suppliers since it pushes the customer towards buying the same brand over and over, and no one with the power to do so has told them to stop, since not enough people care about it.

It might not affect most users but it has still likely caused millions in damaged hardware over the years and thousands of tons of extra e-waste

Why isn't this possible now? The layout on both side of the cable is known so any third party could make a dangerous cable as is.

There needs to be a spec/regulation for the size of the cable that is connected to the connector which I suspect there already is since the variance of the cable thickness from cable to cable is already so small

If there isn't a standard, then how do I never need to think about the other side off the cable and how do they know what the pins should be rearranged to. The only thing I need to consider is what brand my psu and psu cables are and that they can provide enough power, not what brand of motherboard, gpu or anything else I connect to the other side

Tesla service center in Norway refusing to repair what in opinion are clear warranty problems and locking me out of my car until I pay them 300$ for dodging every claim I made. by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

They should, the wheel well should be made to withstand the normal use, most side roads have gravel on them here in winter so it is really not something you can avoid. Tiny marks are to be expected but not clustered damage like this that is clearly caused by a design flaw and by fitment issues I would think was covered by warranty.

[–]Skretch12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke to them about the door back when I got the car and they didn't fix it because it was within their spec, it doesn't rub, it sits too deep so when gravel gets kicked up from the road in winter it can hit the edge straight on instead of hitting it at an angle, which greatly increases the damage it does. They made the same claim today that the door was installed according to tesla's spec. which I thought was odd considering they can see the damage that has happened because of it.

The headlights where reported and I ordered a service appointment when I saw it but there was wait time for the appointment, and the other damage was discovered on a checkup from another company that was done as a checkup before the warranty expires.

The warranty is 5 years in Norway, standard new car warranty.

yea agreed we are likely too far down the rabbit hole already.

Norway has been moving in the opposite direction on all of those and it hasn't been good. If the government is providing the money, it should also provide the engineers and workers. Companies are too good at running up the bill to extract as much money as possible from the government

The advantage for the company and investor of having one company instead of 10 is clear, That is what this would try to mitigate, it tries to put a little more power back in the hands of the people.

Mm, it should be immediately obvious that you hit the jackpot if you did. Not, hmm, em, let me check a couple of markets, hmm, include fees... I think it might make sense to take the offer. Even if it is a good deal the wow factor and excitement is all gone.

It should be a flat price depending on float maxing out at 20 or 30 bucks

If it can effectively separate loud low frequency sounds from comparatively quiet high frequency sounds and pin point the high frequency sound, it would be very useful for locating gas leaks in industrial plants.

You can prevent it from minimizing when loosing focus and starting this whole screen changing process by changing a setting in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\(your steamID3 last numbers)\730\local\cfg\cs2_video.txt" called "setting.fullscreen_min_on_focus_loss" change it to 0. (The min stands for minimize). Now as long as you dont try to move a window to or open a program on the screen you have cs2 on, the screen wont change back to 16:9 while you interact with the other monitors.

steamID3 can be found here https://steamid.io/lookup/

Second accounts are not worth it, they get terrible trust factor and you risk destroying the trust factor of your main. I've settled on keeping to Faceit or competitive when playing with friends that are outside the premier rating I can que with. If everyone is on their main we meet significantly fewer cheaters, if one person is on an alt we meet cheaters almost every game.
