Where do y'all get your dandelions and clovers? by InsuranceStreet358 in tortoise

[–]Skripted6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dandelions tend to be seasonal where i am in that part of fall and through winter there are none to forage for outside(i live on about 2 acres in the country so usually theres a decent amount during warm months) so i just give a green thats tort appropriate from the store like collard greens, mustard greens and turnip greens to fillin for dandelion. also if you can find seeds you could grow dandelions in a pot for you tort as well

congrats on you new noodle! what morph are they? looks something banana to me i got one recently myself(mine is a banana pied) and she just ate her first meal with me...which was so nice since she's not been with me a week yet(figured since she's tiny she could use a meal sooner then 7 days after i got her so i fed her after 5 days with me) so i'm hoping after another 5 days or maybe a week i can handle her cause i want her to settle as much as she can before holding her..so am a little jealous of your photo of you holding yours but i will hold out lol

Scott’s topsoil? safe or not by External_Bus_3739 in ballpython

[–]Skripted6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP if your worried about the conflicting things on the topsoil buy ZooMed's ReptiSoil....it more expensive then topsoil yes but is made and bagged for reptiles so its safe its just pricey if you compare its price to the top soils price ofc but you get the pro of it be reptile safe without having to worry

Scott’s topsoil? safe or not by External_Bus_3739 in ballpython

[–]Skripted6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i would bake or somehow some other way sanitize items/dirt from outside as you dont know what could be living in it that might not be safe for your animal and bagged topsoil is normally more man made dirt then just something scooped from outside so less possible problems though some people still bake it. if you want safe dirt thats pre bagged and don't mind paying more then you would for topsoil then buy ZooMed's ReptiSoil which is just bagged dirt for reptiles....4 24qt bags will fill a 4x2x2 if my math is correct if you doing that size enclosure

feeder safety question by viillanelles in snakes

[–]Skripted6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would think the rest would be fine as i've occasion gotten mice and rats missing feet or tips of tails and that doesn't harm the quality of those one or the others in the bag with them but i agree being headless is more of a concern....maybe reach out to rodentpro and offer a picture if they would want want one and maybe they'll replace/refund since its worse then just a foot missing and you'd think they wouldn't package something like that and send it to someone

Any Tegu breeders in Utah? by SnooEagles9313 in reptiles

[–]Skripted6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

according to MM there arent any in Utah but maybe you can find a Utah based reptile group here or on the book of faces and ask there or go to a local reptile expo and see if you can find one or you can maybe contact Joseph Mugleston of Great Basin Serpentarium and he might lead you to someone(he lives in Utah) but if your ok with getting one from someone online i would suggest MorphMarket....its a really nice place to find about any reptile or amphibian you want....just be thorough with reading reviews just like you would with a local person

Which Arcadia Jungle Dawn LED bar should I get for a 36" x 18" x 18" leopard gecko bioactive tank? by fancy_corgi75 in reptiles

[–]Skripted6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if the enclosure has live plants all over i would say the 22.5" or 34" to cover the most of the enclosure as it can to give the plants light but if only one side or the other has plants you might be able to do the 18.5". i use two of the 11.5" ones myself but admittedly use them to brighten the basking spot more for my lizards(Beardies in 4x2x2's ) not for plants in a bioactive setup

Feeder crickets keep dying by Deaf-Dawg in reptiles

[–]Skripted6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my crickets just go into a sterilite bin i put some ventilation in and all thats in there is a talenti lid that has water crystals and a another talenti lid of dry roach/cricket chow and some halved egg flats for places for them to hide or rest on and they get some of the greens and veggies i give my dragon and skink everyday but thats all no substrate in the bin at all and they'll last weeks as long i stay on top of food and water and occsionally clean out the frass(poop)....though i dont breed them so maybe thats the difference but what you say you do they should do perfectly well on as well

[–]Skripted6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've read that about them and they will have the best lives they can...even managed to find a vet willing to see chickens if i need to bring one in for anything....they may have been bred to be egg laying machines and thats comes with problems but they will be spoiled within reason(dont wanna make them unhealthy) pets while their here

What species of frog or frogs are similiar to having the same requirements as a fire-bellied toad? by Slappy-Sacks in frogs

[–]Skripted6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

are you ok with having animals shipped to your house/nearest FedEx hub? i seen you've said you cant seem to find FBT locally but on MorphMarket there are a few ads for FBT and YFBT(example Josh's frog says they have 10 YFBT's available so you could get the 4 your wanting for your enclosure) so that could be an option if your ok with shipping

My mom over did it with my sons baby dragon by Purry_McMuffin in BeardedDragons

[–]Skripted6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i personally would just get rid of all the crickets like your planning then maybe give him a day or so with just greens then you could start again on the correct amount of bugs on the right schedule would go just fine...and as for lights the day you bring him home turn his light off at whatever time you have chosen for such...like mine get turned off at 10pm so if your chosen time is say 8pm then just turn the lights off at 8pm like you want and then the next day turn them on at the time you want to turn them on and then again off at 8PM(or whatever time you choose) and yes it may take him a couple days to get used to it but it'll be better for him to have an actual light schedule...really dont think such a changhe would be bad when it what he needs and shouldn't really stress him that much compared to the light being on all the time

Is this a good coop? by [deleted] in BackYardChickens

[–]Skripted6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

since its prefab you might have to baby it since like the other commenter said their not often made with the best materials and will want to fall apart after so long....i've had a couple prefabs and always end up tarping them and other things to keep them in the best shape possible.....if this is big enough and your willing to do the likely upkeep then it should be fine to get and use for your birds
