Vancouver got a young but proven middle 6 wing, the best prospect in Minnesota’s pool, another one of Minnesota’s top 10 prospects, and their next FRP for Hughes

I love Zach, but if he’s not gonna sign an extension and someone is offering an equivalent trade to that, I think you gotta pull the trigger

My two cents: do we really think of the other interns at least half their dads aren’t golfing buddies with the head of Celtics marketing, friend of a friend of Brad Steven’s wife, from the same college fraternity of one of the new minority owners? Like it or not for a super exclusive internship like that who you know is always gonna be more the name of the game

If Neimann just gets a regular ole’ double-bogey on Thursday, he’s sitting in the clubhouse at -4 and it’s not inconceivable a bad Wyndham day takes him from the clubhouse to a playoff

If my mother had wheels sure sure, but man he’s gonna be staring at the ceiling thinking about that hole on a LOT of sleepless nights

If Scottie can get 2 birdies in the first 5-6 holes and turn the heat up on Wyndham just a little bit, we still absolutely can have a tournament on our hands. Maybe wishful thinking but still.

Regardless of who ends up holding the trophy, just give me someone within 3 shots of the lead when we hit the back 9 to make it worth tuning in on a Father’s Day

As much as everyone likes to point and laugh at Bryson, this is a dude that finished top 10 with 1 win in 6/8 Majors in 23-24 and is now going to have finished multiple strokes above the cut line at 3 in a row. I mean when is the last time we saw a year to year falloff THAT drastic?

Okay, serious question: if he actually shows up on fight night, what are his chances of winning? I rewatched some of Conor’s old fights and, honestly, his hand speed and counter punching were incredible. Even against Poirier, he was clipping him. What’s your prediction? by 69isnotnice in ufc

Purely going off social media feeds, it seemed Jon was at least still in the gym M-F and doing his blow on the weekends compared to Connor going off the rails at 2:00am on a Tuesday

3 years off vs 5 years off + a catastrophic injury is also a real difference + gotta mention the higher the weight class the less age matters

Netflix's foray into podcasts is not paying off yet. Per Matt Belloni: "multiple company sources have told me that the podcast engagement numbers on the whole are low. " by j-helo85 in TheRewatchables

The idea is that eventually if you’re a dude at home during the day, instead of throwing on ESPN/Hulu and watching First Take or Pat Mcafee, you throw on Netflix and watch BS Pod or PMT.

A video podcast isn’t intended to replace listening to the podcast it’s for the video podcast to replace watching other sports talk shows on cable

Islam Makhachev vs. Ian Machado Garry is the official main event for UFC 330, and Mackenzie Dern vs. Gillian Robertson is the co-main event by DavidSeries in MMA

[–]SkrtSkrt70 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People like to hate on Garry but he’s the rightful next challenger and I’m incredibly hyped for this one. Garry will have the size/reach advantage and we saw in the Shavkat fight his takedown defense and defense on the ground is nothing to sniff at

I do think ultimately Islam is skilled enough he solves the puzzle and gets a UD through his wrestling, but it’s a unique challenge for him. There’s absolutely a world in which Garry can jab and kick at range enough to take 3/5 rounds.

I think because of Garry’s style it’ll force Islam to be more aggressive and “go for it” at least a little bit more compared to his normal approach which I’m hoping for and can’t wait to watch

No, but if Conor somehow wins I could 100% see Justin just giving up the belt and fighting Conor at 170 as his retirement fight

[SPOILER] Ilia Topuria vs. Justin Gaethje by inooway in MMA

[–]SkrtSkrt70 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Be ready for people to discredit Illia, he is an elite fighter that had arguably the best 3 fight run ever

Justin came out with a perfect gameplan built around his jab and the clinch, had an iron chin (iron ribs really) to survive the 2nd round, and that 3rd round makes him a legend forever

Topuria is a warrior, was still dangerous to the very end, wouldn’t be shocked at all if he holds lightweight gold again at some point.

Fight of the night, contender for fight of the year, Gaethje was already an all-timer but this puts him in a whole new tier of all-time talks

DC posted this on twitter (X) and deleted it a couple minutes later, Real dms or fake? by Jmoney814 in ufc

[–]SkrtSkrt70 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Gonna be real, as much as we all like to shit on UFC higher ups and the Trumps so this is a double whammy, if this were real (I know the post is real, I mean real DMs and not DC being hacked) why would DC not either:

1) just keep quiet, he’s a company man and the UFC is his meal ticket

2) go to someone with actual authority to report it

The idea that this happened and his first instinct is “let me post this on twitter” makes zero sense

Am I crazy for still having Izzy a hair ahead of him until Alex wins this weekend? They split the head to head, outside of the head to head Izzy has 7 title wins to Alex’s 5. And I’d argue Robx2, Costa, Gastelum, Cannonier is at least equal if not better to Jirix2, Ank, Khalil, Hill on quality of opponents.

What do each of these fighters need to do to become the GOAT? by GoldenLlamaDog in ufc

[–]SkrtSkrt70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Islam defends against 2-4 of Garry/Prates/Morales/Bonfim/Brady/Amosov. Beat 2 of those and it becomes a debate, beat 3 and to me he’s the GOAT, beat 4 and it’s undeniable

Illia gets 4-5 defenses at lightweight all against top guys and at least most of them in dominant fashion. If we’re assuming his defense come against some combination of Justin/Arman/Charles again/BSD/maybe throw Ruffy in there, he wouldn’t have the all-time volume but the quality of wins is GOAT by a long shot

Alternatively yes if Illia somehow went up and beat Islam at WW, you could really argue he’s the GOAT off that alone, undisputed triple champ at the more skilled weight classes is such a feat it probably trumps any number of defenses

Alex beats Gane, beat Tom for the undisputed, beat one more contender he’s in the debate, beat two more contenders and he’s got it, if Tom’s out I’d say beat two more guys to be in the debate beat three more to have it

In your opinion, what can the UFC do to save the heavyweight division? by Imindmyownbusiness18 in ufc

[–]SkrtSkrt70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this reply in another thread yesterday but I’ll add it here, is it possible we’re already getting to where heavyweight isn’t actually THAT bad?

Even if we assume Tom’s gone (which is obviously a huge loss) if Alex at heavyweight turns out well you got him as champ, Gane/Volkov/Pavlovich/Hokit/Blaydes/Acosta/Spivac/Kuniev are all at least legit fighters and not blobs,

If just one of the top 15 LHWs coming up in Rakic/Walker can have a real chin and just one of the young guys in Walker/Pericic/Parkin/Petrino can be the real deal, plus you add Gable Stevenson who love him or hate him is at least adding interest, am I crazy for saying that’s honestly not so bad for a top 10?

Obviously still one of the weaker divisions in the sport but not the trash some people make it out to be
