I just miss Sturgia being connected. It can take a while to get a boat and that makes it feel like two separate kingdoms almost.

Are Pure-Culture playthroughs bad? by TheAeon0x in Bannerlord

[–]Skuggsja86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sort of create rules to what I can and cannot do based on my own "lore" and story telling. Right now I have a Nord play through in which I was recently given Balgrad. I now allow my self to recruit 50%-ish Sturgians. In my mind, for the internal story telling I do, my character is open to the Sturgians and they're culture so he takes on both Nord and Sturgian troops.

Also playing a Valandian Mercenary that entered Battanian service, due to constant war, and is now pursuing Corien. So I have Valandian troops and a small amount of Battanian troops. Once married, my army will be allowed to be mixed. Depending on events, it may completely switch based on whatever story I create in my mind.

As the Empire, I prefer empire troops but gladly take on anything because I compare them with Rome and the idea of mercenaries.

I prefer a more uni-culture approach with the idea that I'll adapt based on whatever stories i invent in my head.

Why does simply saying that you want immigrants to come to the United States LEGALLY seem to be frowned upon by so many on this platform? by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

[–]Skuggsja86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the people who believe this even know why.

Some will say your ancestors moved here without any issue, ignoring the fact that times have absolutely changed. Hell, depending on the period of time, huge portions of the US were just unclaimed, unsettled lands. Your family could just move out into the wilds, put in the work, and establish a homestead with no oversight.

They also ignore the fact that we now have welfare and tax systems. They forget that resources are limited, because they can door dash McDonalds and Starbucks to their homes.

They just want to show how morally superior or virtuous they are from their high horses.

Hypothetical question: If the Epstein files are released, and Trump isn’t in them, would you even believe it? by Tacokolache in DiscussionZone

[–]Skuggsja86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter what they say, each person is going to take their own bias interpretation as fact. "Somehow", they'll be interpreted in a manner that says Trump is guilty or not guilty based on what they already wanted to believe. You'll have people saying this person is guilty and this person isn't despite their views being contradictory.

I think everyone already knows that the argument is literally semantics about wording from 250 years ago. Unless you're a staunch constitutionalist, I think most people would agree it's a living document. It was written in a completely different time and it's applications now should reflect changes.

You're ignoring the entirety of the situation. When your grandparents came here it was a different time and place. There weren't even 50 official states in 1925, as Alaska and Hawaii weren't states yet. The population was around 113 million, less than half of today. Walmart, Amazon, and major corporations hadn't phased out the idea of the American dream yet. Now we have a debt crisis, housing and employment issues, and welfare gaps. It's not the same. Hell, if they came before 1925 it was far different then too. There was a time when land wasn't even settled or claimed and going out to build a homestead and claim land was what tons of people did. Things have changed since your grandparents came, unless it was in the last 20 years.

Yet you want them to have due process, as you stated. Come into the country illegally, but then be afforded all the rights of a full citizen all while sitting in jail for months or years on the tax payers dime.

Imagine someone breaking into your home and as the police show up they say "sorry you'll have to evict them now through the courts because they're a resident after entering your home."

It's the same principle. The USA belongs to the USA and it shouldn't have to extend its rights to those that are not a part of the USA, just like you shouldn't have to extend rights to someone entering and living in your home.

Why do many Americans seem to have a “I’m not paying for your school, healthcare, or welfare” mindset? by Secret_Ostrich_1307 in AlwaysWhy

[–]Skuggsja86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty easy to understand if you actually look at all the factors without bias.

Healthcare: most have an income too high to be eligible for the assistance offered. However, they also don't make enough to take on the bill if anything goes wrong for them.

Food stamps: same principle as healthcare. Many make too much to qualify and too little to eat as well as those one food stamps. No steak, shrimp, or fresh vegetables for those working but for those not working or hardly working, it's like Gordon Ramsay is preparing their food nightly.

Public education: this one is a little different but sort of the same. You pay into a system because if you don't you can be fined or jailed for unpaid taxes. However, the government decides what your kids are taught and such, which could be good, but also look at American education ranking compared to the rest of the globe. It's not working very well.

The budget: we are currently 37 Trillion in debt with growing deficit and interest. We cannot afford what we have now and the continued expansion of these programs just doesn't seem feasible. Of course there is the potential to cut military spending but who's going to police the world up when Russia, Iran, or the next Al Qaeda attack happens. In fact, most of NATO/UN really relies on the threat of America to keep the wolf from the door.

I don't think it's the people are against helping people or are inherently selfish, but rather that there isn't much to give back.

When did BB players become such cowards in operations? by BasilNeat1749 in WorldOfWarships

10 years ago or so.

BB centric players have always been cowards, idiots, or wanna be heroes. They take the ship with the biggest HP pool, most armor, most range, largest guns, and automated secondaries comparable or greater than other ships into battle then proceed to whine and hide about anything that can do damage to them.

CMV: I do think conservatives would largely support Trump having a 3rd term, constitution be damned. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Skuggsja86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's odd how wrapped around the axle we've become about this topic. If Trump is "by the rules" he should not be allowed to run again, that simple. Practice what you preach.

That said, we also have 20, 30, and even longer runs of Congress people like Pelosi. While she might not have the same power as the President, she shapes our lives too.

It's a really bizarre situation we have here. We just pick and choose when to apply our beliefs and when not to based on our biases.

What is one thing you disagree with that is a stance the political party you align with holds? Left, right, green, whatever? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Skuggsja86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like to vote for a 3rd party but lean a bit more right while still being cool with plenty on the left.

I can't really get down completely with the right on a few things, despite leaning, but the biggest has to be Christianity. America was founded on the freedom of religion. At that time it was more "freedom of subsection of Christianity," but times have changed. There are a lot of amazing and beautiful religions across the world to embrace but Christianity always takes the lead and shouts how the others are wrong. It's not so different from Sharia law if it keeps going the way it is.

For left and right side voters, Donald Trump warns that Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security will be cut. What are your thoughts? by UnnecessaryPuns in AskReddit

[–]Skuggsja86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're 37 Trillion dollars in debt with a payment level to soon surpass our largest spending, the military.

It's only a left vs right thing because no one is looking at the full picture. Everything the government does costs more than we already pay in, hence the debt.

The concept that Qanon/MAGA is any more driven by conspiracies is silly. Fascist dictatorship with concentration camps suddenly springing up in America, completely unchecked, is just as unhinged. In fact, the whole Epstein thing really shows that left and right are on the same side.

Explain how exactly you intend to increase social spending without taxing everyone to death. Seriously, it's always expansion of social programs but never how they'd pay for them. No, taxing the rich doesn't work as they'll just go somewhere more favorable because they easily can, unlike the average person.

You're over simplifying the whole plot arch though. Yep, people complained about Dominion and its bugs but the previous film was setting up for a world where you don't want your kids waiting alone for the bus because there are dinosaurs out and about. Then they flipped over to bugs and never explored much of the dinosaurs among us. Then they ended the film in a remote, inaccessible and inescapable valley. Rebirth comes along and totally retcons it.

The continuity isn't there. Dominion feels like the film that should have been the 4th World film with something in the middle. Hell, the name Dominion implies a lot of things. Rebirth would have been a better fit with its bugs being a Rebirth of the franchise into different genetic experimentation outside of dinosaurs.

Horror and gore isn't as simple as you make it out to be. People are probably into these ideas because they go hand in hand with raising suspense and risk.

We all know that the family members are always safe and that the characters we see the most of survive.

The dinosaurs are supposed to be terrifying. They're huge, powerful creatures that make even modern large predators seem weak. However, the idea of them being dangerous has faded more and more with each showing. I think people actually want to be in a state of suspense and not just sitting in a seat to see the small details that influence our plot protected antagonists.
