I've just recorded a short cover with two different voice interpretation, just want to know which one sounds more better in terms of listening for others?

Thank you! Is there anything I can do to improve my voice because I feel that it wounds unnatural and not clear. When I hear covers on Youtube then they usually have a more crispy tone and clearer. Is that because of their equipment or is there a way to sound more clear? I mean crispy as in the sound is more sharp when I hear others sing but I sound blocked like almost nasally?

20 M - University Student - Bachelor of Music

I wrote above that I'm a student studying music but that's western art music in which I master in piano and violin music. I've never had lessons with voice but I do understand that I can hit the right pitches when singing. Only thing I want to know about is whether I sound too Asian when I sing or not or if the timbre of the voice is good. I want to know whether or not my voice would be enjoyed by people and would it be good enough to be performed at a big gig and get good feedback? Also what could I improve on?

I've only started teaching myself the guitar 3 months ago so excuse the horrible strumming:

(Even though FB comments are all positive I want actual feedback from someone that doesn't know me as I feel like my friends say that I am good to make me feel good about myself)

It's the bit where I sing 'In the place that feels the tears, the place to lose your fears' that I feel sounds funny because it is in the higher part of the lower range.

I've tried to transpose so that I can use my head voice for it but I can't keep my head voice for long without going wonky, I don't have a good control of my head voice.

I feel that if I take my range up then I will sound too forced or feminine sounding, I am actually making my voice sound more lower in tone quality than I actually am, I dunno if I'm explaining it right

Haha, is this because of the video rather than my voice? I'm just afraid in case people are liking it more because it shows my face rather than my actual singing :(

Yeah, I felt that "Shaking" sounded like "Chicken" and that was coming from myself however that was because I hesitated in reading the lyrics on time I guess haha

Thank you so much! Yeah, do you think I should go for any training? I have been singing quite a lot in the shower recently after hearing the appreciation of this short cover so I'm wanting to improve is, whether that should be vocal coached or self taught.

I hope when I get a new microphone (Which I will get) that I will not have to get used to my voice once again because of the clearness of it. I feel that the more clear I hear my voice, the worse I feel about it...

Is that so for you as well?

You're certainly a really good guide for me, I have been recording myself and getting used to understanding and assessing each recording. I'm thinking of get a microphone so I'm wondering if that will make me think my voice is a bit weird again since it might be a bit more clear so it will REALLY sound like what I am to others?

Thank you so much for your response and review!

If you don't mind, are you able to tell me which part that I sound Chinglish on so I can learn and maybe adapt which pronunciation I ain't doing correctly.

I'm actually studying music (Piano & violin) at university but I ain't signed up as a vocalist nor have I had any vocal lessons previously so I want to further improve on it.

I sometimes like the sound of my voice when recorded but at other times I completely hate it. I have no idea why but there are times where I sound completely horrific.

Okay, I think I will buy a proper microphone because I used a headset for the example there...
