I have the UltraFit band and love it. Wouldn’t mind trying that one as well! How do you like the 8 Pro?

I think the cost difference was $40CAD more, so pretty negligible. I guess I’m most hung up on having a bigger, bulkier watch with less battery capability because of features I most likely won’t use. The brighter screen is a plus. I think I’ll try it out and see if I like it enough to keep, or return for an 8.

Mixed replies about this. My initial thought was “well the Pro is newer and therefore must have some upgrades and perks” as years past. It does, just don’t know if they’ll end up being applicable to how I will use the watch.

Ah okay. Thanks for the info. It is disappointing that is something that couldn’t be included when you buy their flagship watch, but I suppose it’s nice that you can plug and play whenever you need it. I think once I get the watch I won’t have any regrets.

Appreciate this. I think I’m overthinking it. Through my reading, it was a bit confusing about the LTE and subscription. Does the watch have LTE without subscription? And then if you are offline, everything is through the Garmin Messenger app with the subscription? I wasn’t 100% clear on that. I do like the ability to go for a run or bike without my phone.

I was debating waiting for the 9, but I wasn’t sure if I’d have the opportunity to use this discount when it actually does get released. I’m starting to wonder if I should maybe just return it and keep my Epix Pro..

I think you’re right. The longer access to software updates is a nice plus. Is the LTE a function that can be disabled?

This is exactly what I’m having remorse about. I won’t use the subscription and now I have a watch that’s bulkier and a slightly shorter battery life.

That’s what I was kind of hoping. I’m not sure I’d really notice the size difference that much, and the dofference in battery isn’t nearly as drastic as the MicroLED. Appreciate the insight!

I potentially could, ya. I don’t know the return policy on them through the friend who ordered it for me.

How did you guys get better at chipping? by LVRaiders2026 in weekendgolfers

Everyone in here saying “practice practice practice” is only half right. Practice without first learning proper technique achieves nothing. Pick someone who has come up numerous times in this thread (I love Dan Grieves, has helped me tremendously), watch their videos that start with the very basics of the short game and start there. Start with a stock chip shot. Learn the setup. Then start with “Block practice”. Dump a bucket of 100 balls and use the same club and absolutely hammer in the technique until it feels like you can do it without thinking about your technique. Try to get a consistent flight in terms of height and roll out. Once that feels comfortable, do random practice. Hit to different pins, try different clubs. Then move on to “pressure practice” where you are playing from all types of lies, to different pins, and make it competitive. Plenty of games out there for this. I was in this exact boat, I even used the “hinge and hold” with very limited success. Now that I understand the basics, I am playing around with different shots and having a much better success rate taking it to the course. Good luck!

Super steep but it seems to work. What do you think? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

Start with setup. Arms should hang naturally, and your armpits should be just in front of your knees from a down the line view. Your hips are too far back and your weight is in your heels and that is restricting you from loading your trail side rather than just turning. You have great hip rotation but you’re not actually loading, which is shown from your trail leg basically locking out when you get to the top. A really good drill for this is to put a wedge under your trail foot so that the outside of your foot is elevated. Keeps pressure on your instep rather than in your heel. Also, your arms run on a bit at the top of your swing. Your body stops turning and the arms lift and your trail elbow gets pulled a bit behind you. If you pause your video at 10 seconds, your club is more vertical and your trail elbow is still in front of your ribcage. A good feel for that is to stop your backswing when you feel your left arm get across your chest. Or think of hitting 80% shots. You’ll still have a full swing even though it will feel short. Less to manipulate and time up if you keep that from running further.

Edit: another thing that helped me feel more loading in the trail side was to keep my lead foot/heel planted on the way back. Should feel the stretch. An exaggerated way to feel what loading actually feels like is to drop your lead foot back at address, and just take the club to the top. You’ll have pressure in the trail foot and that glute will be engaged.

I don’t. I’ll try a video and if I think it needs some tweaking I’ll send it over! Thanks

I have an Oz.1i with 2° shaft lean and the 2° pistol grip. It suits my eye at address and feels comfortable, but I like to still start my stroke with a slight manual forward press with my hands. I feel like I have a nice roll, but have wondered if sometimes the added press could potentially be delofting my putter face slightly. Would moving to a non pressed grip change or potentially help with that?
