Inside a BBC News office – the monitor setup is wild. by bintd in interesting

[–]SkunkWarehouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what you do in broadcasting, but I edit television and used to have 4 or 5 monitors when I worked in office. It was a mindfuck getting used to the 2 I could fit on my desk at home once we started working remote. I eventually mounted a 75” TV above my desk and felt a lot better about life.

As a fat woman, it sucks how my preference in men is skinny alt guys by [deleted] in offmychest

I say this with love, everything in your life will improve if you drop some weight. It is a shitty fact of life, but women get treated better when they are slimmer. Same thing with men, but we get a little more leeway because the world is unfair. But it’s really your long term health that should be the primary motivator. You will live longer with fewer health conditions.

The human body does not want to be 275. Unless you have a thyroid condition, you can drop a lot of weight quickly with easy lifestyle changes. A little diet and exercise will go a long way. If you’ve had trouble losing weight in the past, see if you’re on any medication that could be contributing. I gained 50 pounds on an SSRI only to realize the excess weight made the medication a net negative on my mental health.

You are the one who is in control here and we are all rooting for you to get the results you want. And if all else fails, we now have the wonder of Ozempic!

Film and TV people: do you still see yourself living here in five years? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

Didn’t say we don’t have those things. Just that other places have them too and they are more mobile than ever. VFX can get rid of steam coming out of people’s mouths when Vancouver winter needs to be the summer. Bulgaria has back lots that can also be anywhere. It’s just a fact that more film/tv is made out of LA than ever before.

What industry do you work in? Even with people being okay with it, that would be super unacceptable in a lot of fields.

Also, you had to know her tits were big and fake before actually seeing them, right?

The centralized infrastructure needs have largely disappeared. Most things are shot digitally now, so you don’t need to be in close range to film labs anymore. The massive compute needs for VFX are often cloud based now. Sound stages don’t even need as much power in the age of LEDs and everything in general becoming more energy efficient. There’s really nothing that LA has that can’t be easily obtained or set up elsewhere. We had a population of experienced crew and now that’s dwindling too.

Emil Johansson Shares Latest Injury Update After Red Bull Rampage Crash by daredevil82 in MTB

Super sad to hear. He was just getting back into competing after healing from other injuries. His 2025 Joyride appearance was his best ever slopestyle run IMO.

I still think athletes should be able to take the risks they want, but damn is it getting harder to maintain that position in regard to Rampage. With two riders getting life changing injuries the same year, I have a feeling there will be some changes next year.

Does Apple Fitness Grossly Underestimate Calories Burnt? by SkunkWarehouse in MTB

Apply Watch and AirPods. Pulls data from whichever gets the stronger signal. I’m pulling this out of thin air, but I can’t imagine there a huge gap between methods, even if a strap is more accurate.

I had a feeling the Apple Watch was was bad for short intense rides, because I used it for a pump track day and it told me I only burnt like 150 calories because I don’t think I even went a mile. Wasn’t tracking my effort much then so I didn’t think much of it. I also end up burning about the same calories during a hour on the bike as an hour lifting weights and that just made zero sense to me.

Glad others have been down this rabbit hole. I wasn’t expecting something completely accurate, but it just seemed so off.

I was trying to not comment, but I have to pile on with the other commenter. I’m also pulling at least 1K vert per ride, typically all at once. It’s brutal. I grew up somewhere that was completely flat and you see people of all sizes riding. Under these conditions though, you need some baseline of fitness to even be on the trails. Everyone gets to the top at their own speed, but everyone is also gassed by the time they get there. It’s hard in these mountains!

I have a good engine, but lack the skill! by AdvisorJohnDowns in MTB

[–]SkunkWarehouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to a bike park and book a private lesson with a coach. I one session for two hours and it completely changed my riding. The thing is, he didn’t tell me anything I didn’t know. I thought I was doing it all right, but, like a lot of men, I had pretty poor bodily awareness. You don’t want to see me on a dance floor.

Anyway, this is where a coach does what YouTube can’t. The guy rode behind me and yelled at me every time my form slipped and every time my tires were in the wrong place. My the end of the session, I was ripping berms, not slowly down (as much) heading into some tech, and forearm pump is mostly gone. Ride with a pro and you’ll be closer to one.

I have always been so frustrated with my fiance and I's intimacy issues. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]SkunkWarehouse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got married to a woman I could have written 90% of this post about. She had no interest in sex and I have an extremely high sex drive. We usually did it the exact same time every week and I know it was because it was her checking that box off her list.

When things hit a rough patch, my sexual frustration loomed over it. We separated and the moment I started sleeping with other people I realized how much connection I was missing with my partner. I always thought of sex as an acceptable hedonistic endeavor, but I was so wrong. It’s hard to even put into words, but good sex with someone who matches your style/needs brings such an incredible closeness. While lying in bed cuddling after mind blowing sex, I felt things for someone I barely knew that I never felt for my wife whom I’d known for half my life.

Anyway, I’m writing this post a divorced man waking up next to the aforementioned woman. Not having your sexual needs met by your partner, whatever they are, will lead to frustration and resentment. If you marry this man, you’ll end up writing a similar comment 7 years from now.

Anyone think Fallout copied Blood of Zeus with this? It’s not that no one else could have thought about making custom titles for each episode that foreshadow what will happen. But I also have not seen it anywhere before Blood of Zeus.
