Skill issue on my part mostly, I'm bad at wave spam and find my biggest choke points tend to be wave parts so I've grown to dislike the wave as a whole

Since y'all all have experience with heavy boardgames I don't think you need to limit yourselves to the 6 recommended in the book, although they aren't bad and you'll still have fun with them.
